This is a guide I wrote for people who have a desire to obtain gadgets like James Bond without being enrolled in the military or secret service.
Here are listed 10 categories of devices you can buy to make you feel like a James Bond, from laser beams that cut things to x-ray goggles that see through clothes to CSI grade forensic lab hardware.

I have also included links to websites where you may buy any of these products! Make your friends more jealous of you than anyone else in the world. I have listed websites to buy these items from as well. These products are legal in most places but, if you select something you would like to buy, please look up state laws about the buying and use of that product.
It is your responsibility to follow the law and I will take no responsibility if you do something wrong with one of the items I will show you where to buy. Please comment this article with opinions or suggestions! Thanks for the feedback!

A Laser

We’ve all seen 007’s watch, that red laser can cut through anything it needs to. Now in our developed world we have technology that does better; lasers in any color of the rainbow. They are so visible in daylight you need to wear protective glasses just to look at the beam.
Although they cannot fit inside a watch yet, these military grade burning lasers are only the size of a pen but can cut like a knife, light things on fire, and have their beam be visible any where you point it; hundreds of miles away! Although many places sell these lasers, to get ones with power, beauty, and the ability to make you the feel like a ninja, you have to go to a place rightfully called WickedLasers.

If you for some reason require a laser that does not look as nice on the outside but works just as well and has a beam just as bright, a laser that is not visible to the naked eye, one that turns on with a unique key, or one that is yellow or orange go to LaserGlow. Both these websites are great.
-
Lock Picking Tools

Most of us don’t care to use our shoulder to break through locked doors, and many doors cannot be broken. Here’s where these tools come into play. You can buy little metal skeleton keys called picks to lock pick doors.
Don’t have the skill needed to pick the lock? Buy a lock pick gun which does it for you or a lock picking training device. If this isn’t your thing and you already have access to a key get a key mold kit which comes complete and ready to duplicate any key you’ve ever seen. All these items can be found at the lock picking section in The Spy Store.
-
A Tracer

Admit it. You’ve watched a lot of Hollywood in your lifetime and from 007 to StarWars films have had many scenes where people trace each other with small gadgets they slipped onto each other.
Thanks to Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) this is now no large feat to do. You may buy a small box, less than half the size of a cigarette box which you can then stick, using the built in magnets, onto anything you want to trace. Then you can monitor the position of whatever you happened to be tracing all the way to Hong Kong.
Some of these GPS trackers can be found at this website.
-
Intrusion Gear

Any good undercover operative can enter any facility. Even without permission. Apart from lock picking, which is for the patient man, you can get in like a ninja or like Jackie Chan. These websites will sell you anything from fire department forcible entry tools, to grappling hooks, to metal rope ladders, to suction cups.
Although the suction cups are not meant for climbing, some one-handed cups can hold up to 75 pounds so with a couple cups and a lot of creativity you should be ready to go. Check out Ninja Gear at Tbo-Tech. Find Locksmith Equipment at The Spy Store.
-
Biometric Security

Security using your one-of-a-kind body is the best there is. Although things like voice recognition, palm, hand and fingerprint scanning, iris and retina reading, hand vein imagery, facial 3d modeling verification, and DNA testing security devices are harder to buy as they require you personal information, what you need it for, and a price quote these high end security devices were too cool not to be included on my list.
Here’s where you can buy some of these from well known brands such as Panasonic.
-
Secret Surveillance: Audio and Video

Here’s where the word “spy” comes from. Using these gadgets you may record audio and visual data within a large radius, or though a specific device such as a phone. You can do all this without being detected using special equipment.

These Microphones and cameras can be smaller than the nail on your pinky finger and can be on constantly or activated by sound or motion. You can even get cameras that see in the dark or mikes which can pinpoint sounds a hundred feet away.
To be able to monitor your targets with precise accuracy and secrecy go to the audio or video site at The Spy Store.
-
Virtual Secret Surveillance

Ever wished you could know every single thing somebody did on a certain computer? And all their passwords? Well, this is now possible. Using simply a small plug-in device, the size of a nickel, between a person’s keyboard (even a wireless one) and their computer, you can see hundreds of pages of text that they type no matter what it is. You can monitor every single button they press on their keyboard. No software is involved in this process; you simply set a password on the device and plug it in.
When it has been recording a good deal of time you can take it out and plug it into your own computer enter the password and Viola! You can see everything they’ve typed. If you do not want to have to retrieve the device you can have what it has recorded sent to a website, email, or FTP server.
This device can be left in for years on end. You may also buy software that does exactly the same thing and at the same time records the person’s screen.
-
Self Defense

Now that your going to be a real spy your going to need some serious protection. On the website below you can buy anything from Martial arts and ninja weapons, to police batons, to stun guns and tasers disguised as cell phones (just like James Bond), to pepper spray disguised as lipstick, to handcuffs and thumbcuffs, to blowguns which shoot tranquilizer darts 200 feet using only your breath. These are mostly non-lethal weapons but always use the utmost caution.

For some real butt-kicking power check out the following website.
-
Counter Equipment

Of course, now that you have bought the necessary accessories and become a double O, you have made enemies, use these gadgets to prevent them spying on you. They have bug sweepers to see that no one is spying on you through your Phone, fax, or computer, or with hidden microphones and cameras. Also in stock are anti-tracers so as to jam, and not to be tracked by, GPS.
If you want to protect your computer from spies, buy a Government Grade Computer protection program which will save you from stealthy spy programs monitoring your computer. You can find them all on the websites below.
Did you know that no matter what you delete on your computer, even “permanently” is never really gone? No matter what you do, even if you are a good programmer and delete the cache, the 1’s and 0’s are still there in a non-accessible piece of your hard disk. This information is kept there for the government to see. If you are paranoid or simply want to get something off your computer forever, so as to not be haunted by it, you can get the software you need today.
If you have information on a person spying on you it is possible to find out who the person is with their living address, email address, telephone number, or car license plate.
-
Other Really Cool Equipment

Here are some other cool necessities. On these websites you can find a USB SIM card reader which will allow you to see anything on a person’s phone, even deleted items such as text messages, simply by plugging in the SIM card. You may also find some hand-held lie detectors and generic versions of previously listed spy equipment.

Also the website below is most likely the best spy website in existence! It has the widest selection of high tech gadgets anywhere including cell phone jammers and REAL X-RAY GLASSES that see through clothes; they are most likely illegal but still interesting.
The glasses cost a ton but the camera costs only one tenth the price. Check it out you’ll be impressed.
Other Cool Websites:
Here you can buy a lot of really cool gadgets, shirts, and many forms of caffeine that any true geek would love.
Here you can buy anything from radioactive uranium, to dangerous chemicals, to meteorites, to Van De Graff machines and Tesla coils, to lab equipment, to rare substances, to X-ray machines, to phosphorous items, to cloud chambers, to the strongest magnets in the world than can lift 800 pounds and only the size of your fist!
I hope you enjoyed this and found it interesting. Use your powers for good, for with great power comes great responsibility (yes I just ripped off Spiderman).

Hi Alex -
I had fun reading through your article. The gadgets are cool and a little scary, because they only continue the whole spying on your neighbor kind of thing. Although, you have done a fine job writing about them and I hope that your article does well.

Awesome article! It’s cool to know such 007 gadgets exist. Great job putting all this information in one place!
March 3rd, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I just got here through stumble upon and I would like to say that I am probably going to buy one of those sweet Spyder Series lasers off Wicked
March 3rd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Peter, tech lasers is a partner of wicked lasers but yes their lasers are cheaper I just think that WL has a bit more of a show off factor to their lasers but I am not going to be bias either way
March 4th, 2008 at 3:19 am

Awesome, that I found this site on digg…it’s the same type of stuff I’m trying to do.
Also show’s how to fashion your own homemade lockpicks and has demonstrations of Night Vision.
BRAVO!

Jordan,
I agree you come up with some valid points. But, you are not factoring in access time. If you realized how painfully slow the forensic process is you would know why your 500gb drive is not 20tb. This is not theoretical information, I do eDiscovery and forensic analysis for a living. I do work for the government, but in the education sector and not in law enforcement. I am not saying this is magic, this is reality. Computer forensics is a field available in the private and public sectors.
Here is a listing on dice.com for almost 100 jobs relating to computer forensics: http://seeker.dice.com/jobsearch/servlet/JobSearch?op=300&LOCATION_OPTION=2&AREA_CODES=&ZIPCODE=&RADIUS=64.37376&COUNTRY=&METRO_AREA=33.78715899%2C-84.39164034&TRAVEL=0&SORTSPEC=0&FRMT=0&DAYSBACK=30&NUM_PER_PAGE=30&N=0&FREE_TEXT=forensic&Ntx=mode+matchall&x=0&y=0
What do you think these people do for a living?
March 4th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Villain,
Yeah, I do suspect it would be unbearably slow
I think they do computer forensics for a living.. Hopefully their full job is NOT recovering data from hard drives written over, 30 times.. But perhaps that is all they do…
March 4th, 2008 at 10:09 am
“…Did you know that no matter what you delete on your computer, even “permanently” is never really gone…”
This is misleading. There are plenty of free and paid software programs you can by today that will allow you to “wipe” the hard drive. True, it doesn’t actually erase the data, but it will randomize and anonymize it to the point where it would take a team of government forensics specialist and *lots* of money to be able to decipher what was originally on the hard drive.
March 4th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Very nice. I like I like. I will check it out.
March 4th, 2008 at 11:06 am
where would i get my hands on one of those sim card readers?
that would be fascinating!
Those links had alot of interesting items on them
brilliant article, thanks x
March 4th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
these are cool, but when is someone going to invent a gadget that makes a cute 17 year old girl want to slob my hot sopressata at the click of a button?
March 4th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
OOoH AWESOMEY U MUST WORKEY FOR THEE SPYSTORE..heehehee i made a jokey
March 4th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
A couple notes.
Quite a few of these are illegal, (throwing stars are a conceled weapon not a self defense item. They are also quite lethal if used incorrectly/lethally.)
Quite a few of these are illegal in certain areas (lock picking tools notably).
Quite a few of these are illegal in use… “Virtual Secret Surveillance” aka keystroke loggers most notably.
Also recording video is usually ok, but recording audio of anyone with out their permission can be a felony in certain areas (3-7 year crime). Most people won’t do anything, but police will use that against you.
Really people just be smart about this stuff, a lot of it is fun, but you can get into a lot of trouble with it. Don’t use any of these with out checking with a lawyer, except maybe the lasers, because lasers are freaking cool.
March 4th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
hey
uhmm… there are no laser pointers that can burn through things and no such thing as xray glasses. grow up
March 4th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
There are plenty of youtube videos of people burning stuff with green lasers genius
March 4th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Response to: WOW, Mar 4, 2008
“hey
uhmm… there are no laser pointers that can burn through things and no such thing as xray glasses. grow up”
… Lasers are used in surgery all the time for burning through things and also used as weapons with multiple uses. Sorry… you just made a really dumb comment and I needed to call you out on that.
March 4th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
The computer keyboard monitor comes in a usb version, and the image displayed for biometrics is indeed a toy. I did not place these images.
March 4th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
These are really great items on only one page! these are by far the coolest legal gadgets that a citizen can purchase. i recommend this page to anyone.
March 4th, 2008 at 6:00 pm

March 4th, 2008 at 8:31 pm

March 5th, 2008 at 12:11 am
The Uranium is not weapons grade and is on a well known scientific website its ok.
March 5th, 2008 at 4:05 am
And before you ask… mebbe she wouldn’t have wandered if I had spent more money on her and less on gadgets! Ho.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Believe me, handheld lasers that can burn things DO exist. I know because I work for Laserglow! We noticed a nice spike in traffic and traced it back to this article. Thanks for including us.
If anyone has legitimate questions about the lasers you can find our contact info on the website. I don’t want to spam this board so I’ll leave it at that. Thanks again for the link, Alex!
March 5th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 5th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I’m gonna buy a Laserglow laser as soon as my pay check comes!
March 5th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Unbelievable that this stuff exists ( i honestly don’t beleive those clothes glasses exist but feel free to prove me wrong) i want the mini camera’s disguised as like pens and stuff and a wicked laser
March 6th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
THE PICTURES GIVEN ARE NOT OF THE ACTUAL ITEMS, THE GLASSES WORK WITH INFRARED. THE LASERS CUT CARDBOARD OR IF YOU GETA STATIONARY ONE STEEL.
March 10th, 2008 at 7:31 am
some cool stuff here
March 10th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
I want you csi guys or anyone else to recover data from a hard drive after I get through using an oxy-acetylene torch on it. Government approved!
March 15th, 2008 at 2:31 pm

Your article is nice, but I never heard such a paranoid piece of BS before. So you are saying if you buy a 80Gb HD is actually 160Gb with 80Gb just “for the government”? I hope you’re referring to the issues pointed by Gutmann, but that’s not what you’re saying above.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:45 am
Pablopulos, as long as information is not ‘overwritten’ it remains after being deleted.
Once my camera kept disappearing for 1-2 weeks before turning up again every now and then (I was spending the summer at my girlfriends place), I asked everyone if anyone had seen it, of course noone had.
The camera mysteriously appeared again one day, I recovered all deleted images, and found out my GF’s sister had been using it all that time
March 29th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
I would like to thank all of you. Thanks to you, my readers enjoying my article so much, and buying the lasers. I have been given a free green laser from Wicked Lasers.com I will write a review of it soon for you. Thank you.

April 4th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Cool collection of gadgets. I love this kind of stuff but just for fun. But some of the electronic security devices given here like Tasers, Biometric security and self defense equipment are quite helpful.

super cool fantastic no#1 spys
April 11th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
dear Alex,
Well, let me start off by saying your work is truelly complexual. i am perplexed that you have intreaged me to this period of self satisfactury belief in the comprehension of your article about the amusing gizmos of the modern mediocore, amature spy hobbie. this reminds me of the text in the bible: exodus chapter 13 verse 5 “so, when the lord has brought you into the land of the canaanites, the hittites, the amorites, the hivites, and the jebusites which he swore to your fathers to give you. A land flowing with milk and honey you shall observe in this month the following practice” Amen. do you understand the sperattic conflication of the imorsal timeline of the connection to the past of the present tabirnaacl of the lebright tiscal year. thank you again for your article.
love always and forever,
morris

i beg your pardon
April 12th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
wow!
April 14th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Alex — an interesting article, and it’s nice the folks at the laser website gave you a discount code and free laser.
As several people here have observed, people should indeed be careful to check the legality of a given device in their respective jurisdictions, and even if it is legal there, to check in advance before taking it into another state or country. (For example, I live in Thailand, and it’s virtually impossible for a private person, even a citizen, to obtain permission to possess, let alone own, any handgun.)
Years ago I worked in first law enforcement then in security in Texas. At the time, lockpicks were against the law to own without a license to be a locksmith *and* actually working in that field — the license alone wasn’t enough. Otherwise, having one was a felony offense, as I recall.
Also, I had a professional “burglar bar” when I was in security patrol, the flat type you could slide in between a car window and the frame to hook the bar you can pull up to unlock the door. One night I bumped into a police officer friend and we had coffee together. When we left, she discovered she had locked her keys in her squad car. Mr. Handy here helpfully got my burglar bar out of my own patrol car and unlocked her door. I wasn’t thinking about the illegality until she reminded me of it — not as a threat, but as a caution.
And lasers. I don’t recall all the details, but a few years ago I read about some guy in the States — Pennsylvania, I think — who pointed one of those small laser pointers into the eyes of a police officer on patrol. The officer booked him on assault charges — and they stuck. I have a couple here (and they are legal) but I would be hesitant to point them at anyone, especially at their eyes.
Finally, someone said he’d like to see anyone recover data from his hard drive after he used an oxy-acetylene torch on it. A few years ago I read somewhere online that a Mafia guy got arrested and his computer was confiscated. The story said he had had advance warning, so in an effort to eliminate information, he heated the drive up to near molten, then dropped it into liquid nitrogen, shattering it. The story said the F.B.I. labs couldn’t extract anything from it — but that some other secret agency’s wizard’s retrieved enough for a federal court to send him on a long, long holiday courtesy the feds. I don’t know if that’s true, only that it’s what I read.
BTW, this is the first time I’ve visited this site, but I’ll be visiting regularly.
Thanks!
Mekhong Kurt

That is soooooooooooooo cooooooooooooooooool. I’m quite sure many of those would be illegal in many areas
In Australia the lasers would be illegal I think, as there have been some incidents involving these and airliners.
Great page.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Im interested. Really

June 11th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Where did you find the x.ray glasses listed?
June 12th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
First of all I would like to say this site is amazing I would avoid breaking the law but this stuff is cool.
I am a teenager and I have hopes that maybe I could become an MI6 agent, I don\’t want to be the next James Bond its just I am tired of terrorism and attempted terrorist attack which kill innocent lives I want to stop these maniacs dead in their tracks, even if it means killing and breaking the law because i know I am doing the right thing and I am ready…
People may say I am taking my life way too seriously by fighting terrorism, I\’m not trying to be a hero because heroes don\’t kill I am just someone who wants to keep the peace and protect innocent lives.
This site has helped me, I will eventually buy these gadgets and I will take on terrorism
Thank you…

Cool stuff.
Question about wiping hard drives: What if you exposed the drive to an extremely powerful magnet? Would that do the trick? Would something like a speaker magnet work or would you need one of those they use to pick up cars at the junk yard?
July 20th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
A large neodymium magnet should be good
August 4th, 2008 at 1:10 am

These kind of products are for me what honey is for bears.
“stun guns and tasers disguised as cell phones (just like James Bond), to pepper spray disguised as lipstick,”, now were talking.
Self defense weapons is a good investment for anyone.
But Lock picking tools, what private persons, needs that kind of tools?
June 17th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
alex, i think your site is amazing
tips for future readers:
don’t point lazers at people
don’t put audio devices like tape recorders in your pucket because any voice could come out blurry
plant surveillance cameras on the outside of a building looking through a window, this creates less awareness of the device
yours truly,
agent surveillance
