Two out of three parents are friends with their children on Facebook.

Two out of three parents are friends with their children on Facebook.

This shows a survey made by the National Consumer Agency.

59,843 people voted. 65.5 represents the entire “yes” to the question of whether they are friends with their children on social networking site Facebook.

The child must send friend request

At the Consumer Agency ForumParents of children online” several parents express that they are happy to be friends with the kids on Facebook. However, the invitation must come from the child itself, says most of the parents.

As parents you should accept if your children want some privacy on the web. I therefore believe that the “invitation” should come from the children. If your child “invites” someone to be friends well then it’s fine and then you know that your child does not see it as a must” writes a father.

Tempting quizzes and applications

Consumer Agency points out that although many of the users on facebook are adults and parents they shouldn’t perceive it as safe. They must beware of the pitfalls and scammers.

Children are perhaps more inclined to take quizzes, add applications and put pictures of themselves. They are not necessarily aware of what they are saying yes to when they add applications, take a test or a quiz, “says Camilla Bruun Jakobsen, editor of the Forum ‘Parents of children online.” – but not only children should watch out. Parent’s should take care too.

Interesting. Luckily my parents are both the third case of those three. Mother does not even know facebook exists and father ignores it successfully. Only dad’s sister is there. But then, I ignore facebook for most part as well.

None of my parents has got a facebook account because of the same reasons that your parents have. But that’s alright because we all know that Facebook is evil!

I have left well deactivated my account then end up going back on there gain, it ends up being a habit.
I don’t spend all day on there like some people do and can’t see how people can either

I get what you mean. You easily get addicted to facebook. I hate it. I don’t use very much time there either but it’s still there all the time and people are like “oh can I check my facebook??” all the time…

I am not a facebook fan. some of my friends are really addicted to the games there, what a waste of time as there isn’t any earning or prize could be won.

I’m happy none of my parents have a facebook yet, and i’ll believe they’ll never will. Facebook is boring and time consuming, i hate that all my friends stay at least 2h online everyday just to check likes and comments on their photos.

  13. BluSphere Says:

I agree qv. Thanks for reading and commenting again! You know I appreciate it :)
I understand that Hamsy.. Facebook really takes up valuable time and it burns me too..

If facebook had a way to pay people that would be good. I’m a parent, my son doesn’t like it either, thinks it’s a time waster. But don’t touch his xbox. Thanks for the research. I have an account but don’t use it much.
