Look what I found in Alaska.

A giant black blob off the coast of Alaska has been identified as marine algae. At first thought of as an oil spill.

The mass was discovered by a group of hunters near Wainwright and reported it as a thick, dark, gunk blob which stretches for as much as 12 to 15 miles and is moving at slow drift.

The Coast Guard flew out to investigate and officials collected samples in jars for testing.

Tests revealed the blob is some sort of algae bloom. It was hairy, stringy, and contained jellyfish.
