How Writing Will Dominate The Internet

How writing will rule the web. How writing will rule the web? This is easy. I believe that about 90% of the web (in files, not in size) is text. Why text? Because it’s the fastest, easiest and smallest way in bytes to express or inform anything.

When you want to find or know anything, you go to the internet, then you go to Google and Google gives you almost only text results. I would say writing was probably the best invention even better than the computer. Writing enabled people to make real progress. If someone died, their knowledge could be preserved in a stone or piece of wood (paper only later in Egypt) and that knowledge would be presented to an “unlimited” number of people that wanted to learn that skill. That was long time ago. Now how can writing change the world? Today it’s so simple to write anything and make money (some people make a living) out of it that it makes no sense not to write. What can you write about today? Anything, everything. The only limit is the keyboard characters (you can use copy paste to get some funny characters from some sites) and your imagination.

In business writing is the only way to get costumers to your website. Google is the responsible for around 90% of the traffic of an average website, and that traffic is looking for information thus articles. How many books there are out there? 150 million, I cannot remember the name of the site, but I just read they used OCR to turn to digital 1.5 million books and they say it’s just 1% of all the worlds books, so imagine the number of articles out there. I would say the world has about 100 Billion articles. But it’s hard to define what an article is, what can be considered an article.

Imagine if you had a simple tool that could give you access to all the articles ever written in the world. Google can give you many kinds of sites, and half of the times sites that just want to make money out of you. I tried to make a search engine to search just article directories and trusted websites, but myself alone finding sites much less adding them would not be enough, even though you can get some very accurate results for most of the keywords.

The problem today with writing is not being able to write or find a site where you can write as much as you want, but to find a site that can access all the writing quickly and effectively. Will you be the one making such site?

I don’t think it will dominate the internet but I do think it will play an important role in the functioning of the internet. Some good thoughts…
