Some people nowadays prefer to stay “invisible mode” while using Yahoo! Messenger, just to avoid chat when they are busy or to avoid someone. Hmm… Is he/she avoiding you? Wanna know if someone is not totally “offline,” in fact he/she may be online but with Invisible status. Here’s the easy way to know if someone is invisible or not.
1. At the main window of Yahoo! Messenger. As you can see, one is invisible, the other isn’t. Double Click on the user name whose status is “offline” or “invisible” user will show a gray icon on the left of her name.

2. A message window will open. Now, let’s start a conversation. Send a message to the user, or just send a BUZZ!!!.

3. Now is the interesting part. Choose the IMVironment button, select See all IMVironments, select Yahoo! Tools or Interactive Fun, and choose Doodle.

4. The last step and the most important step. After loading the Doodle IMVironment, there will be two possibilities.
- If the paper start to roll up, you will immediately know that he/she is online but invisible.

Let’s make the other totally offline and see what happen.
- If the user is offline, the paper didn’t roll up and the Doodle area will show “waiting for your friend to load Doodle” continuously, like this:
Waiting for your friend to load Doodle. Means that the user is offline.

(it can take up a minute, depending on connection speed)

I don’t use Yahoo messenger. I use Skype instead. There if someone is too busy to speak to you a little telephone engaged signal covers their skype symbol. My son in Japan uses this a lot when he is too busy to talk. A useful article.

i use http://www.imvisible.info, just enter any yahoo id and check their status.
3 advantages:
-they need not be in your friend’s list
-they will never know you are checking their status
-you need not login to your messenger yourself, atleast you dont need a yahoo messenger installed.

I am invisible for a reason and it is because I don’t like the unknown brats trying to chat and get me to look at their nasty porn webcams. Plus I usually am busy and don’t want ANY one to bug me. I am not happy you posted this as most who are invisible have a good reason why they don’t want to be bothered.

Gorgeous interface, fast.
They even have a desktop application for yahoo status checking named Detect Invisible.Me.

great tip, now if someone does that to me I’ll just block them for being too clingy and creepy instead of pretending to be invisible to avoid hours of boring chats that go nowhere except to them describing their loneliness and inability to get a man/woman
