If you haven’t heard of the Potter Puppet Pals, you are either 90 and can’t use a computer or you spend far less time on YouTube. Just joking! The Potter Puppet Pals are one of Neil Cicierega’s comedy creations that basically make fun of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. Neil Cicierega, nearly 23, is one of the few people who start their careers out on the internet and make it big. This internet personality began making videos and posting them on YouTube when he finally moved on to a series of puppets which were based on the lives of Harry Potter and his friends, where he really hit the pinnacle of a successful directing career. 

Neil’s first video of the Potter Puppet Pals was a flash animation called “Bothering Snape” but later on he moved on to actually making the puppets. His successes of the Potter Puppet Pals even include live shows at Harvard University. And that’s not all! Probably Neil’s most successful video is “The Mysterious Ticking Noise” that is a silly song (and insanely addictive) created by each of the characters of the Potter Puppet Pals that sing their own name. This video was just so popular that it won a YouTube award in the Comedy category in 2008 where it was nominated by 61.6% of the voters. With 66 million views as of August 2009, it is one of YouTube’s most viewed videos.

So who are the Potter Puppet Pals? Well, Neil and his team created a bunch of puppets which are popular characters of the Harry Potter series. These include Harry, Ron, Hermione and right up to the Harry Potter series’ villains, Snape and Lord Voldemort. The other characters included are Dumbledore, Hagrid and Neville (who is portrayed by a butternut squash, by the way). The best thing about this is, Neil has tried to project each character as weirdly funny in every single way possible. It can’t be termed as a parody but nearly everything, right from the characters’ puppets, to their actions and to what they say are extremely comical. His videos last only a few minutes but are chock-a-block with silly hilarity. The videos are posted on YouTube every now and then and the episodes seem to get funnier every time they are posted. Suitable for every age, Neil’s videos are making him one of the most popular internet celebrities there can be, which is pretty commendable.
