What’s All This Twitter About Anyway

I always thought tweeting was just for the birds and I havn’t changed my opinion, not much anyhow.

I know you may think I’m just living in the darks ages, I still pick up the phone to talk to friends and family.

I actually like to hear their voice, not always a cell phone either but that old house line. Oh by the way I actually

send the occasional card and letter through the post office. And young people if you receive a gift it is still

nice to send a thankyou card some of us older people don’t own a computer and if we do since we made the effort to get

you something for your special occasion please use some old fashioned etiquette and show us you appreciation.

Maybe next time we should just send a virtual gift instead!

It is nice to find out important things as soon as possible but do I really need to know every minute detail,

to much information for me. Social networking is amazing for keeping in touch when we are far from people we care about

but lets not make it our only communication. Hugging your computer is just not the same as the real thing.

I think people can be very stressed trying to tweet everything. I like to stop and smell the roses and hear the birds

in my garden and I won’t bother tweeting that. I will write and share as much and I want it is a great form of self expression.

One last word of advice, something my mother told me, never write down anything you would’nt want to see on the

front page of the daily newspaper. In other words don’t share things that can come back and bite you later.

Now that means twitter ,facebook email, ectera.

Excellent and your mother gave you very good advice. These social networking sites are good in some ways and bad in others. I don’t play the games and I don’t chat on them though I may occasionally send a quick personal message privately to someone when I can’t reach them by phone. I do have an FB wall, and I am connected with Twitter, Linked In, Stumble Upon but basically use them to promote my writing and it works. Unfortunately some of these social networking sites have turned into gossip columns that are hurtful. You have written a very good article and I hope you get a lot of read.

I agree with you, It takes too much valuable time to twee, and nobody is interested in where you are at the moment and what you are thinking. And absolutely never share anything online that you don’t want the world to know.Lets keep a little privacy.

You are right! Social networking and micro-blogging site like tweeter are not an excuse to show our concern to all the people we cared about! Though the message and greetings are in real time (compared a conventional snail mail) It’s just a virtual care just the same! We could still utilize the thing they called” Vintage” like cards and a landline call. There’s nothing to lose so try it now> The magic us still there. Try it! Nice stuff!
