- Twitter doesn’t cost time at all (a few seconds at the most). That is if use you use the tweeting sites that are there solely depending on twitter for their survival. One such is tweetmeme.com and you can get a ‘View on Tweetmeme’ bookmarklet which you can drag onto your browsers bookmarks toolbar (Firefox) and later click on it whenever you are on an article you want to tweet.
- Actually Triond should have added a retweet button on Triond articles like they did with Facebook like buttons. These two are actually 2-3 lines of javascript code that any simple blogger can insert in their blog. I don’t know why Triond ignored Tweet buttons when they are only 3 lines of coding.
- Now the benefit comes from the retweet sites. Add #keywords when tweeting your articles, all tweeter sites pick them up and soon your articles start ranking higher in search engines just because some tweeter site (a site that depends on twitter for survival) has picked up your link. With tweetmeme you can just let your tweets done from there so that it is picked up for sure. Slowly links start counting.
- I don’t use twitter if I were to expect the twitter followers to click on my tweets. However more follower count is better as that is how all tweeter sites (twitter dependent sites) pickup your tweeted links. The more followers means more authority or power, also the more retweet counts for an article, the more authority for that tweet link and it gets picked up on as many tweeter sites as you can count.
- Twitter is not just a twitting site (two birds twitting to each other). I see behind the twitter and get helped from those sites (tweeter sites) that depend on twitter’s popularity for survival and are willing to let some links out to our tweeted pages just so can continue their business. Some tweeter sites’ links aren’t helpful. But some are good enough.
Last breaking tip: Twitter is ranked at Google Page Rank of 9 which is more than digg/stumble/other social bookmarking sites (not Facebook networking site). So ideally it has the potential to beat any other bookmarking site in sending search engine traffic.

I have just read the Google considers social networking links from Twitter and Facebook and others in ranking content for their search engine.
If your tweet is retweeted by a member with a lot of follower, Google will give more value to it.

You should check out Social Oomph as well. They allow you to schedule tweets and facebook status updates for any accounts on those sites you have.
Simply insert the text you want to have tweeted, tell it what time you want it done, and off you go. You can even set up to 12 tweets an hour and have them automatically distributed throughout the day with the push of a button.
Pretty cool site if you do this type of social networking to get views. It’s made quite a difference to my view counts.

I definitely recommend at least checking them out. The accounts are free forever for Twitter purposes, and if you want to add in more functionality and Facebook aspects, there’s a professional upgrade for the accounts.
But heck the free twitter stuff alone is well worth checking out. I started using it last week and I get about 20 new followers a day without even trying lol

I don’t know about that. But as twitter and facebook are nofollow I only know that search engines don’t count those links. Also we can’t see twitter messages or facebook pages in Google search. That is why I only look for indirect SEO benefit than direct traffic from twitter.

I know that twitter is somewhat like a social networking site. But it really is not. It is an open celebrity-follower style of website. If you want to build followers go with twitter. If you want to follow other online users selectively based on your criteria, go with twitter.
If you are a blogger or online publisher just go with twitter without worrying about following or followers. Many do this successfully. Keep tweeting for fun.
Very interesting and I immediately went over and signed up. I cannot find, even after searching the knowledge base, the tool that you can use from your browser. All I see are different buttons for various apps, like Wordpress, etc. I found I could do it manually, but it comes up as a retweet and I had not actually submitted the stoory yet. Seems like it is designed for subsequent tweets from followers and not original submissions, or am I missing something?

in second column. Click Bookmarklet button. This is called as bookmarklet and there are such bookmarklet (Java apps related stuff) for many bookmarking related sites. Another such one I got from Google Bookmarks.
When you click bookmarklet then you will go to another page titled Tweetmeme Bookmarklet. In this page you will see:
Quickly and easily Retweet and Comment on stories across the web with TweetMeme.
Simply drag this bookmarklet to your browser’s address bar: View on TweetMeme
Then, wherever you are on the web, you can click the bookmarklet and it will bring you to the TweetMeme page for that URL, where you can easily Retweet the story, Comment on it, and find out more information.
The text “View on Tweetmeme” is actually on a nice white color button. Just drag this button on to your bookmarks toolbar. Just try dragging around the top bars of your browser and see where it sits. Once it sticks at one place try clicking it and you will start seeing results.
The retweet button is a button placed inside web pages. This button is on your browser. I am sorry if I caused confusion about this.
