Is Facebook Encouraging More Hatred and Violence Than Friendship and Love

Facebook’s mission is to allow people stay connected to one another. So in a way, it is saying that it wants everyone’s friendship to grow. That sure is a very noble thought. However, the reality of Facebook seems to be quite different. The site is just spreading more hatred than friendship. Think about the fan pages and groups. First of all, anyone with a Facebook account can make them. You must be feeling that they are always dedicated to celebrities. Unfortunately, that is partially true. Apparently, these days, many fan pages and groups are dedicated to hate speech pertaining to not only discrimination, but also racism. Strangely enough, all of them contain the option “report abuse”. But they simply do not work. Thousands of people can use the option to make the order of removal of the page powerful, but Facebook officials simply do not take action against them. The reason behind this is not known. But it seems that the site’s mission linked to friendship is often overshadowed by the like minded Facebook users who have some hatred to share on those negative fan pages.

First of all, here is an example of discrimination that is fairly supported by Facebook. The two most outrageous ones are circled in red.

Below is another wonderful example. You can basically yield to same result by logging into your Facebook and typing in the search bar “we hate America”.

Currently, the ones who are struggling globally with reputation are Arabs and Israelis. Surprisingly, there are pages and groups dedicated to both. Take a look at the image below for it.

But this is not all. There are groups and pages opened to show hatred towards one specific practice. Visiting them, however, will reveal to you that majority of the comments made inside of them are rather racist.

So you see, the F word is very much allowed on these pages. Also violent comments seem to have a warm welcome. Interestingly, the only word which is not allowed to include in a title of a group or page is “kill”. But that should not be a big deal. After all, the word “hate” itself is quite powerful in what it wants to say.

Now here is another interesting point, such comments can be reported. As a matter of fact, they will also be removed, but this result will be visible only on the laptop or computer you used for reporting them. If you log onto the page from a different source you will see that those obscene comments are still there.

Overall, the more Facebook is turning into to a giant, the more hatred is spreading instead of the friendship. Sure, its officials believe in the freedom of speech concept, but sometimes, taking it for granted can lead to ignition of fire which might simply encourage utter aggressiveness and violence from those who are using Facebook.
