In its new terms Google wish to combine all the gather information from all its product in order to improve the service. Thus, for example search results will be affected by videos viewed on YouTube or social networking links released on Google+. European Union wants to examine whether these terms and conditions conflict with the European privacy laws.
Google, in response, said that it briefed the authorities before it published the new terms, and that their rejection can be confusing for users.

  1. Whether of not Google briefed the EU in advance is probably irrelevant. Government bodies rarely make hasty decisions. Likewise the EU will not be concerned about Google loosing face in front of its users – if they are in breach of EU privacy laws then Google will have to change in order to comply and there is getting around this.
