The Truth About Making Money on Triond: How It’s Really Done

There have been a million different articles written about how to make money on Triond.  90% are crap; of the remaining 5%, another 90% are simply rehashed crap.  Among the garbage that remains, you will find a nearly unlimited list of worthless and, in many cases, false information.  Having established a solid income from Triond, I can tell you that the route to success is not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be.  Not that it’s easy; it is both time consuming and painstaking at times.  But if you follow the steps, nearly anyone can do it.  Here are mine, for what they’re worth.  Keep in mind that as I write this, I am not one of the multitudes who publishes 3 articles, figures I’ve got the system licked, and publishes a ‘how to’ article.  I have been writing here for over a year, published nearly 200 articles, and my articles have accumulated views well into the millions.  My page views total in the tens of thousands daily.  So this way works.

This is simplified; mainly because overanalyzing leads to wasted time.  Keep in mind that the tips I’m giving aren’t going to help you become a better writer; they are only going to help you reach more viewers, and as such, make more money.

Manage Your Time

The biggest myth perpetrated on Triond is that you need to spend time reading others’ articles and commenting in order to gather views and make money.  This is simply not true.  If you are here purely to make money, the last thing you want to do is waste your time with this.  I have had articles reach into the tens of thousands with only a couple of comments.

The truth is that 99% of my comments come from Trionders, while 99% of my views come from elsewhere.  And we don’t get paid for likes or comments.

If you aren’t here just for the money, then networking is absolutely important.  Otherwise, don’t waste time that you could spent writing and networking.

Subject Matter

For starters, don’t write crap.  Many Trionders fall into the trap of figuring that anything they write will get views, and publish as many pieces of garbage as they can.  As I mentioned before, the real money here is in longevity.  Take the time to write a solid article.  Know your subject, especially if research is required.  I have a good number of articles that after a significant period of time are doing in the neighborhood of 100 views a day.  Again, that 10- 15 cents a day doesn’t seem like all that much, but it’s all exponential.

Understand that what you write about is critical.  An article on Carrie Perjean’s sex tape may do well for a few days, but it’s dead in the water after a time.  If you’re here for money, avoid ‘hot topics’.  Pick subject matter with out a brief shelf life.

Oh, and if you’re here as a poet looking to get rich… quit now.

Editing

Take the time to use spell check and such.  It isn’t nearly as important as content, contrary to what many say, but it is important.  Falls under producing a quality product.  People will leave in a hurry if you spell simple words wrong, but no one will care if you miss one comma.  By the same token, though… why take the chance when the problem is so easily remedied?

Keywords

The one aspect of publishing that far too many people ignore.  Keywords, or tags,  are your bait; the way people find your articles.  Many will write an article on, say, ways to save money and energy, and stick four or five words they think apply.

Energy, save, environment, money.

  • Rule #1… better too many than not enough.  Use Google to find which tags people have used on similar articles.  Study the ones that do well here.  Phrasing can be everything here.  Ask yourself: If i was looking this subject up, what would I type in?

Promoting

Now comes the important part.  The most important part of making money on Triond is getting your work outside of Triond.  You want to spread your articles as far over the internet as you can;  the more places it is, the more people will find it.

The best place to start is with the ’share’ icon on your content page.

Which brings up a list of over 200 sites that you can use to share your articles.  I suggest taking some time initially to click on to the individual links to see if they would be appropriate for what you write.  Some you can scratch immediately, as they are in different languages.  Others cater to specific fields; i.e. sports, news, music, etc.  Some are better for short term success (Twitter, for example… Buzz in another) while others will generate views over time.  Experimenting is the easiest way to do this.  I personally use about 60% of them, but my subject matter is also very diverse.

Your next step should be to get your articles listed with as many search engines as possible.  I recommend Submit Express, which hits many of the big ones.  Most of the individual engines will have an ‘Add Link’ to click on the front page, and will take you through step by step.  It isn’t necessary to re submit; once you’re in, you’re in.  Some will, in fact, remove you for doing so.

At this point, you have set yourself up for long term success.  If you find you have extra time, I would suggest utilizing forums.  Stay topic specific; don’t spam an article about football in an automobile site.  Bear in mind, ‘drive by spammings will get you banned quickly.  Her are some pointers on how to effectively spam forums.

  • Take the time to set up an actual profile page; picture, bio information and such.
  • If you’re going to use the site repeatedly, maintain a presence.  For example: If the majority of your writing is on automobile repair, join several forums, but visit on occasion and take part in conversations when you’re not spamming.
  • Always be cordial in these forums.  There will always be someone who will scream “spam!”.  Get rude, they and their friends complain, you get banned and lose a resource.
  • Most forums will tell you on the front page how many active or online members there are.  If there are 2 people online, don’t waste your time.

If you are having a hard time finding applicable forums, use this site.

Big Boards

Using Other Sites

Triond is most effective when used as a home base.  There are a number of other sites (Redgage, SheToldMe, Booksie and the like) that will allow you to publish previously published work.  I use the ones that allow me to simply post a URL that will bring the viewer back to my Triond page, for the same time constraint reasons.

That’s it in a nutshell.  It will take a bit of experimenting to find out which methods will work for you, and you need to remember that like the old saying goes, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’.  My first article got 9 views the first month. It has taken me, as I said, a year to get to the point where I am now, and many, many hours of experimenting to see what works for me.  If you’re looking to make a fortune immediately, quit now, because it won’t happen.  But if you’re willing to invest the time and effort, Triond can be a nice little source of income.
