Readbud: A Review and a Proof of Payment

There are many ways we can make money online. You can join affiliate marketing or sell your own products online. Or you can also become a freelancer and bid for projects in places such as elance.com or genuinejobs.com.

However there is a new website which has gain popularity for the past few months: Readbud.com. The website claims to pay money for reading and rating articles. Sounds too good to be true, right? I thought so.

I decided to give it a try since it doesn’t cost me anything to sign up, but not before I did a little research on the website. To be honest I don’t know if this website is legit. If it turns out to be a scam and doesn’t pay a cent, I still think it gives me some advantages.

I tried to find any proof of payment but thus far I only managed to find one. The picture is blur but you can see the clearer picture on the link below.

How to sign up at Readbud?

Simply go to Readbud.com and sign up by providing your name, country, email address, username and password. The next step will require you to select areas of interest for the articles that they will provide for you to read. Once this is done, Readbud will select the articles for you to read and rate. You will have the option to skip any article and move on to the next.

How much do I get paid?

Readbud values articles based on the amount of content the article consists of.

Under 100 : 1 cent

Between 101 and 200 : 2 cents

Between 201 and 300 : 3 cents

Between 301 and 400 : 4 cents

Between 401 and 500 : 5 cents

Between 501 and 600 : 6 cents

Between 601 and 700 : 7 cents

Between 701 and 800 : 8 cents

Between 801 and 900 : 9 cents

Between 901 and 1500 : 10 cents

Between 1501 and 2000 : 15 cents

Over 2000 : 20 cents

However, in order to have the reward amount credited, a rating of the article must be submitted.

The most I earned was $0.10 for an article about wellness. Most of the articles I got, earned me $0.05 to $0.08. The minimum pay out amount is $50 and payment is by Pay Pal.

There is another way you can earn money in Readbud: the referral program. Refer as many people as you can and if they sign up, you will get $5 for each person once they redeem their first earning.

Advantages of Readbud

Some people might think reading and rating articles for as low as $0.02 per article is a waste of time. It might be true especially to those who are looking for ways to make fast cash. Personally I think Readbud does have it advantages.

1) I can earn money by doing what I love to do – reading.

I love to read and I don’t mind getting paid $0.02 for reading a 200-word article. Honestly, I wouldn’t get paid for reading a brief celebrity gossip online, would I? I have been fortunate enough to get a constant stream of articles to read and rate everyday. I joined Readbud on May 7 and within one week I managed to earn $7+. That is not too bad, I think.

2) I get to learn new things.

Even if Readbud turns out to be a scam, many of the articles I read were useful and informative. I get to learn about new tips on SEO or facts about nutrition, or even about different cultures around the world. If I want to read about more topics, I can select up to maximum of 50 topics of interest (hint: more topics, more money).

3) The articles give me ideas to write about.

Some of the articles spark new ideas for me to write about. Who knows, may be I can even submit the articles I wrote to Triond. Another earning potential there, don’t you think?

4) I can open an article and take as much time as I want to read and rate it. As far as I know there is no time frame imposed. And the articles are not intrusive. I can continue doing other things and return to it when I’m free.

5) The articles help to improve my English and writing skill.

As a non-native English speaker I’m doing everything I can to improve my English and increase my vocabulary. And hopefully my writing skill as well.

So what do you think? Why not just give it a try? You don’t have to pay for signing up. You don’t even have to click on anything such as advertisements, unless you want too. All you have to do is to read the articles and rate them accordingly!

UPDATE ON 16 August 2011

This article was published over a year ago when Readbud was relatively new. I had reached the payout of $50 but until this day Readbud has not paid me a cent. And I am not the only victim. Countless others had gone through similar experience. Please run the opposite direction when someone suggested you sign up for Readbud. This site is a bigtime SCAM site.

Great review of this website. However, my time is so limited, and to read 100+ to get 2 cents or so is not worth it for me.

Thanks for this info. I’m a member of redbud, too. But I haven’t recieved any payment yet. How long did you read articles for reaching this payment ?

  26. Avaxier says:

Readbud is a scam. I’ve been a member of Readbud for nearly 3 months but still can’t reach $50 payout. Their method of scam is by reducing the number of articles we can read and rate when we’re near the cashout balance.

They started to reduce the number of daily articles when we’ve reached about $30 and when we’ve reached about $45, they stopped giving ANY daily readable article. Their reason is because we’ve read all of the available articles in our chosen interests.

They said they’ll give extra articles soon and they did. But it’s about 2-3 articles a week and getting the $5 would take about 6 months, that’s if they still have the site running.

I hope this can clarify all of the doubts you have towards the site.

  31. READBUD IS A SCAM. I have reached $50 and the auditing time they alloted for review. THEY HAVE NOT PAID. I have sent messages about 15 of them already and THEY NEVER REPLIED. I have friends whom I have referred to Readbud and some of them already reached their first $50 and are now complaining too of non-payment and unanswered queries. I am really embarrassed. I just sent another message now inquiring about it. I have stopped reading articles for one week now until they pay. If 5 members have been paid, thousands were not. Please be warned and pass this message to others. Make a blog about it so we can warn others. Thank you and God bless! …… if you have any questions about my experience, pls do so. tks again.

  36. sarah says:

its a total scam…dont waste you time…they will give you articles at first…but as you approach to 45$ they will not give any articles…and the policy says that to get your money you atleast have to earn 50$…that is not going to b possible…
    ITS A FAKE SITE…

  37. Mr Dollar says:

I’ve earned about $48.00 but I’ve not get article to rate in few days.

  38. Faith Blues says:

Mr Dollar, a lot of people complaining the same thing. And also please look into B’s suggestion which is to have your paypal account similar to your readbud’s username. See if that works.
