1) Writing for pay

There are a number of websites on the internet today that will pay you directly or indirectly for publishing your articles on their sites. A few will pay you upfront money if the deem your work good enough but not a tremendous amount of money. The most I’ve been paid upfront for an article was $12.00.

Many more writing websites will pay you based upon how popular your articles are. The more page views your articles generate the more you will be paid. You will not get paid a fortune this way unless your articles become very popular and heavily viewed however you can earn hundreds of dollars per month this way over time if you publish enough articles.

A bunch of writing sites will allow you to share in whatever revenue they can generate from people clicking on ads next to your articles. This is a good way to earn income but often you must furnish your own Google Adsense or Ebay or Amazon.com account info to share in the revenue profits.

In total I’ve generated thousands of dollars in online income from writing sites.

2) Survey Sites

There are many survey sites out there that will pay you decent money for taking surveys on their sites. Most surveys will take from a few minutes up to half an hour but much of the time is spent declining offers of all kinds of things like magazine subscriptions or “free” gift cards to Wal-Mart or Target. I’ve made and been paid hundreds of dollars from survey sites but I’ve found that over time with each site it gets harder and harder for me to get the surveys I’ve taken approved. Until your survey is approved you don’t get paid for taking it.

3) PTC (paid to click)

PTC sites are easy and unbelievably frustrating at the same time. There are literally thousands of PTC sites on the internet that will pay you money to view ads for a set period of time. Generally you will get paid $.01 for each 30 second ad you view. If you can get people to join a PTC using your link then you will get paid roughly $.01 for every ad they view also. It sounds simple and it is except most PTC sites show you their own ads. If a PTC site is showing you their own ads how do they generate the income to pay you? Unless enough members upgrade their accounts and pay a PTC money for the upgrade they have no other real way to generate income. The result is that almost all PTC’s go bust over time.

I have been paid $5 twice and $10 once from a couple of  PTC’s but I consider them a waste of time and do not spend any time using them or promoting them but some people on the internet make up to thousands a year from them if they are lucky enough to get paid before the PTC goes broke.

4) Blogging

If you can blog many times everyday and attract a large audience you can actually make a living blogging. However you would probably need a minimum of 1,000 visitors a day to do this. The vast majority of bloggers get nowhere near 1,000 visitors a day.

But if you want to try this get yourself a blog and then add advertising to the blog from Adsense or some other internet ad agency. If you become popular enough advertisers will seek you out and offer you money for your ad space but you’d have to get really popular for this to happen.

You can also place affiliate ads on your blog and get paid when someone clicks on one of your affiliate links from your blog and makes a purchase. I’ve made a few thousand dollars this way from offshore gambling ads I used to run on a horse racing blog I used to publish daily but once Congress passed a law banning offshore gambling this income source dried up for me.

5) Traffic Exchanges

Some traffic exchanges will pay you to surf the internet and look at other people’s websites and ads. You will not get paid a lot of money for doing this but could easily make $100 per month this way if you have the time and inclination. The hardest part is that most traffic exchanges will only pay you cash to surf at various times when they need traffic. So you have to keep sifting through all their emails on a daily basis to figure out which exchanges to surf each day.

You can also make money from traffic exchanges by referring people to them. Generally you will get paid 20% to 50% cash commissions whenever one of your referrals buys something depending on your membership level.

I make hundreds of dollars a month from traffic exchanges and have made over $1,000 one month when I won a big referral contest. But don’t kid yourself here if you want to earn from traffic exchanges you must put in the time.
