You might have heard of lots of sites, where you can promote your articles and blogs, by which you can bring traffic to the sites you wished. Even I wrote an article recently above Five Sites which can bring traffic to your articles. My recent approach is to use Orkut to promote.
Do you have an orkut account with lots of friends? Then you can easily achieve this. So, how does this works?

In your orkut page, you can find an option called “Promote”. Once when you create a promotion by adding the details of the sites you wish to promote and click “promote”, it will be shown as an advertisement in all your friends’ pages. They can click and see the page you promoted. If they like it, they can click “promote it” and it will get spread further, to their friends’ pages too. You can track the number of views, clicks and trashes in your promotion page.
Some people may click “Thrash” and stop your advertisement being shown in their page. But don’t worry about that. You will have at least few good friends who will encourage your work and make your work a success.
Another common way to get traffic to your site is by putting the link of your article in your status update in the home page of orkut. Also you can join few communities for writers and can also get traffic.

Good tip. Have you been able to see traffic (as reflected in your dashboard) from Orkut? I lose interest because i can’t see anything coming from any of the social network digg, reddit, mixx, diigo, fave,….I have account everywhere and I think I can spend my time better.
Uma, I got views from orkut friends. I’m a member in a parenting community and so got views from them on my articles related to parenting (like managing toddlers in flight) and on some healthy snacks recipes for kids (like banana snacks, etc…)
I’m like Uma, have an account everywhere; but don’t see any significant change. So I’ll make onw more try with orkut. Thanks for the tips.

The only way to promote in Orkut is not through ‘Promote’ ( limitations of length, inability to add links etc) which is mainly to add youtube videos or photos – but through scraps.
Well I do support Uma. I created my Company’s Profile on Orkut. And I created a Job Community there. But after 11 days, hardly 15 members join the Community and My Boss is pushing me hard to grow the network…
My 11 days have been a complete waste and I had to listen a lot from my boss. Above that, I regret as I could have used the time in a better way….
