This might not sound fair but happens frequently. Learn why your site might have informative content but still doesn’t get what it deserves, good Google and Alexa ranks.

Sometimes very good websites rank very low in search engines and  in Alexa rank. Alexa is one of the best ways to measure the popularity of your website. Alexa measures the popularity of a website by seeing how many page views, unique visitors and reach of a website to determine it’s Alexa rank. But with all the complex math to judge websites, you still see great websites on the bottom while bad sites manage to rise up. One website I think it’s great is brain rules. This website will teach more about your brain than any other website. Despite of being so good, this website will only go up to 500K in Alexa rank. You might have a very good website that never manages to go to the top because it is never visited so no one can know how good or bad the site is.

So how can you improve your Alexa rank?

Alexa measures a site almost only for the traffic it has. Use high traffic websites to get more visitors. Sites such as Stumble Upon, and Digg and finally some other social sharing services. You are in control of the amount of initial links you get to your website. If you are those people who manage to run over 100 blogs, then you can make a link network between them all and enjoy better ranks for them all, at least on search engines, that will pump the traffic to get the better Alexa rank later.

How tough it is to increase your Alexa rank?

Only the best sites in the world will ever make to 10K in Alexa rank. You need several millions of page view to get that rank. The rank formula is a secret because the reach and the unique visitors count too, not just the page views.
