What’s Hot

Not getting as many views as you’d like? Well then, to be blunt, write about something your general audience will find interesting…

I haven’t been on Triond very long, but it’s not hard to tell that some topics are exceeding more popular than others. It would be great if we could just write whatever we wanted, knowing that people would still read it, so you would still get paid. But, unfortunately, that’s not how it works. So we have to pay attention to what people want to read. Find it a little annoying?

If you think do, you can always just try to rely on your social networking skills. Make hundreds of friends on Triond and tell them to read all your articles and comment and ‘like’ every single one of them. This is a great idea in theory, but they’ll ask for something in return. None of us have unlimited time, and just love to read absolutely every word anyone felt like typing up, so first of all they’ll probably just choose to read what they think sounds interesting. Second, most of them will ask that you read and comment on some of their articles in turn. In the beginning this works out great, but it gets a lot harder as you get more friends. I don’t have that many yet and I still find it hard to read enough of what they write.

Now then, that leaves actually producing content that people will take an interest in. How do we do this? Research, testing and analysis. So basically reading articles about what to write from experienced Triond users who know what’s hot. Personally, I’ve found that health related topics and Runescape get lots of attention. (Runescape is probably popular because a good percent of Triond users joined so they could get memberships for free.) But you certainly shouldn’t feel restricted to topics, try new things. Who knows? Maybe they’ll end up getting hundreds of views and earning you lotsof cash! And remember, always look at which articles you’ve published got the most views. This is important because in order to get so many views again, you need to understand why people looked at the content in the first place. It will probably be obvious because it will have to do with the topic, but if you do find it hard to tell then take a look at the comments. It may just be that it was a very well writing article, and your original viewers passed on the word to their friends. (Wouldn’t that be great)

So, to summarise all of that; if you really don’t know what to write about look at the most popular articles and keep an eye out for articles that will tell you what people will generally take an interest it. Try out a variety of new topics and see what works for you. Oh, and a bit of social networking won’t hurt. Good Luck!

Yes, that’s true. I write other things beside Runescape simply because I knew that a lot of Triond writers doesn’t know about Runescape at all.

And when they commented on my Runescape article, I just knew that they didn’t actually read it so by making an article that’s readable by everyone, I’m sure I could get a lot of sincere comments.

This is a nice tips article! Good job!
