While surfing the web for interesting things to write about, I always end up finding some of the oddest and most disturbing things out there. This one really tops my list. I can appreciate the bizarre and wacky, but this one leaves me speechless, baffled, and bewildered. Warning, this is just plain weird, to the fullest extent of the word!
The fashion industry is always changing. Designers are going to the extreme to grab your attention and launch their look, design, concept, or line. Kristofer Paetau, of Rio de Janeiro, definitely took the fashion industry to a new, bizarre, and definitely odd, place: dead animals as accessories.
His very unique “collection” consists of five Chanel inspired pieces including a bra, thong, pair of high heeled shoes, handbag, and handkerchief that are all “ornamented” with taxidermy rats, complete with heads, feet, and tails. Some of the pieces are adorned with lace, pearls, and silk, as well.
To top it all off, the “collection” is modeled by several different transvestites, thus the name, “Trans Rat Fashion.” Fair warning, if you choose to visit the site, some models are nude or partially nude while posing for pictures with the garments, and there are a few disturbing nude poses. There are also video clips with sound of the fashion shoot that I chose not to view.
I have said before that the web will always provide us with interesting, odd and weird sites for our entertainment; even if they weren’t necessarily created with that in mind. This one, one the other hand, is more freaky than entertaining. It’s truly frightening to consider, what will the fashion industry think of next?

Tarra,
Those were all transvestites wearing the rat fashions. That is why it was called “trans” rat fashions. I could not wear dead rats.

Oh my…I believe you forgot to add TRANS part to the art of rat fashion. Yeeesh…
