Links to make your work go by much faster today.
Bored with nothing to do at work? Or just plain don’t want to work? Well, here’s numero three in ol’ SlackerDan’s weekly ten links to make the day go by a bit faster:
-
I Pity the Haiku
Need some Mr. T inspired poetry? Who doesn’t? This website has a whole bunch of “em; in fact, you can just ease back in your desk chair and watch a new Mr. T haiku appear every twenty seconds in an eye-pleasing format. I pity the fool who doesn”t check out this website (sorry).
-
Tapedeck
If you’re an older slacker like me, you remember the glory days of cassette tapes. For every album there was usually a tape release, just waiting to be popped into your Sony WalkMan.. If you want some great nostalgia, go to tapedeck.org where they have hundreds of pictures of cassette tapes. If you can remember the brand name with which you used to make “mix tapes”, it’s probably here.
-
Yellowtail
A simple yet strangely addicting zen-like drawing game. Well, yellowtail isn’t a game really, it’s more like drawing various shapes that then animate. You can stare at for minutes or maybe even hours at your job with this fun link.
-
I Got You, Dave!
Time for some cherry lounge lizard music! Here’s the website of David Mann, piano player extradordinaire, at least in the bars. I don’t know how much time you can waste on this site, but I thought you’d appreciate the experience. Heck, crank up your computer speakers so everyone in your workplace is subjected to… I mean, listens to the great lounge tunes from Dave.
-
The Lost Cosmonauts
This website has always been one of my favorites, even though it’s quite creepy. The Lost Cosmonauts site tells the tale of two Italian brothers who set up a satellite dish antenna in the 60’s and listened in on the Soviet space program. There’s some strange, even somewhat disturbing audio clips on this site. I won’t spoil it for you, but this site will make great worktime reading.
-
Garfield Minus Garfield
Here’s an interesting experiment: remove Garfield the cat from his comic strip to focus on Jon Arbuckle, his so-called owner. The results are strange yet funny, shedding a whole new light on Jon. Not a good light, mind you; most of the time the strips make it look like Jon has lost his mind. But still funny.
-
Mumbo Jumbo Daily
SlackerDan’s recommended personal site of the week is Mumbo Jumbo, where there’s a whole lotta video to watch and some good writing to be read. The blogmaster behind Mumbo Jumbo is Bob Cornero, with some friends and family. He calls Mumbo Jumbo a project, not a blog, mind you. All-in-all a fun site to visit; I liked the entry about the 100 year old tortoise adopting a baby hippo.
-
Toon Crisis
An addicting game where you shoot various “toons” for points. The great thing about this game is the mixed media: in real-time video your hand, shaped like a gun, travels down streets and alleys to kill various toon baddies. Awesome music too!

Gmail Tips
Gmail is certainly one of the most popular free web email services these days. You can do a whole lot of fun and interesting things with Gmail besides just e-mail. All kinds of tips are here, such as how to include a signature, how to add your Hotmail contacts to Gmail, etc, etc. All-around a greatly informative site at Gmail Tips.
Video of the Week
Not much to say here except… neat idea! I gotta try this with a friend:
See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor.
Have a great week hiding from the boss while wasting time at work! Oh, by the way, check out my website with a whole bunch of my writings at The Internet Slacker, you’ll be glad you did (maybe).

Thanks for the link! Webupon is one of my favorite blogs and has been in my RSS reader for a while. Oh, and yes, you can feel free to call my website a blog if you like. The only reason I say project is because I fully intend to release some Creative Commons licensed books through it one day, and whatever else I can think up! Cheers!
