The top 10 topics that swamped the internet for the first half of 2009.
It has been an interesting year so far, let’s take a look back at some of the biggest topics to sweep across the Internet.
- Michael Jackson Dies – Also the most recent, this topic has been getting more hits than anything else this year sadly, even during the midst of a recession.
- Farrah Fawcett Dies – Undoubtedly much sadder a loss than Michael Jackson, she unfortunately is getting less coverage than him.
- Economic Crisis/Recession – The United States is facing some hard times right now, and everyone is talking about it.
- California Budget – California is failing time and time again to resolve it’s current budget issue, and the Internet is watching as the Terminator tries to fix it without increasing taxes.
- Swine Flu – That pesky trans-species flu that has done significantly less damage than the regular annual flu.
- Susan Boyle – Rags to Riches to Hospital to Internet fad, Susan Boyle momentarily caught the Internets hearts, and then was quickly forgot again.
- PIRATES! – Somalian pirates are ravaging the high seas of…. Somalia, and bringing true light to the actual nature of pirates, not the glorified Disney version.
- Obama Rama – The now president gained some interesting momentum during his election as viral campaigning appeared to capture the votes of the younger Internet generation.
- Politicians and their Affairs – Cheating politicians collectively earned their way up here. Unlike Hollywood, bad publicity is bad…. well you don’t get reelected and possibly lose your position. Plus people hate you.
- Honorable mention – Porn, cheat codes, famous female actresses pictures, these are normal though.
