This article briefly describes three most important technical features of WiMAX which make WiMAX one of the most competent wireless technology known to date.
The key technical features of WiMAX are:
- Resiliency: WiMAX can benefit more number of customers than just those having a clear line of sight as it does not require a clear line of sight between the base station and the user’s equipment.
- Coverage : The base stations have a coverage radius of up to 50km, depending upon factors such as population density,terrain. The more geography a WiMAX base station can cover, the lower the service provider’s overhead costs.
- Spectrum : WiMAX can be used both in licensed and unlicensed frequencies.Hence there’s absolutely no major cost involved for the service providers in purchasing a bandwidth of certain frequencies.
