There are some things about eBay you might not have known. Here are some secrets that could save you a lot of stress and money.

A lot of people have been misled to believe that eBay only sells junk. While there are people on eBay that think they are going to strike the jackpot by selling everything they can find, not all of eBay is junk. In fact, if you look hard enough, you can actually save a large chunk of money by buying things on eBay.

It’s not all used

eBay happens to be one of the largest places to find wholesale items. Wholesale is basically what any retail store like Wal-Mart or Target is. There are a lot of companies over in Hong Kong, China that make money by selling items wholesale. When an eBay seller wants to sell large amounts of one item, they go to another company online and usually order several hundred of that item and then sell them on eBay. This is how they are able to sell the items for such a low price.

Isn’t it expensive to ship from China?

Shipping from China can be expensive, but not always. Because China is one of the leading suppliers for manufactured goods, hundreds of thousands of packages fly out of China each and every day, and a good portion of those packages go to the U.S. For a small fee, or even nothing at all, these companies can work out deals with China Air Mail ™ to have items shipped with them.

What not to buy

If you are going to buy from wholesalers there are some things you need to be aware of. Reading is probably one of the most important things to do. When you are making your first purchase from an eBay Power Seller ™ you will want to make sure you read a lot about them. Make sure you read the description of the item you want to purchase and read feedback from others who have purchased that item and see what they think.

There are certain things that are okay to buy from China, and things you probably don’t want to buy from China. Small purchases under $20 dollars are probably your best bet (eg. headphones, laptop cooling pad, flash drive.) You would defiantly not want to buy anything over $100 dollar from China on eBay, because it could very well be junk unless you can verify that it is a trusted U.S brand. You don’t want to have to go through trying to get a refund and then having to pay a 10% restocking fee.

The down sides

If you are purchasing an item from an eBay power seller from China that you are going to need within the next week, you probably don’t want to buy it. It usually takes at least a week and a half before you receive your package. While this can make you a little bit impatient, it is worth it because you are saving a lot of money.

Occasionally your item may be lost during shipment, if it has been at least 4 days after the expected date when you should receive it, contact the person that sold you the item. Most power sellers would be more than happy to send you a new one.
