I have been a Triond member for just under a year now, and I have often wondered how articles are selected  to appear on the hot content list, after all this is the list that every writers strives to be on, for ultimate exposure and recognition.

When logging into Triond one day, I spotted an article written by another Triond user, Seth Morgan, which grabbed my attention and further increased my curiosity.

I had assumed that each of the hot content articles had maybe been selected due to the topic, perhaps hand picked because the particular subject had tied in with current world news events.  Or perhaps they were picked due to the number of articles that had been previously submitted by the Triond user or maybe because the Triond user had amassed a landmark number of followers.

Well having reviewed the current Hot Content List (which at the moment is looking a bit thin on the ground) – I still cannot work out how articles make the list?

I checked the number or articles each writer had submitted – one has submitted a total of 36 articles, the other only 19.  I then checked to see how many friends/followers each writer had – one had 12 and the other 36.  In both instances, not large numbers, so those theories were shot to pieces.

So what about the content?  One article is about movies that the writer would like to see in the coming months and the other is about fighting flu.  Well I guess that they are fairly topical, but it’s nothing specific.  Maybe if the flu article was about swine flu, then this would make the article really topical in view of President Obama declaring a national emergency today.

Both of the Hot Content articles are well written, so my final assumption is that it is down to good old fashioned hard graft and talent.

Perhaps my writing style is not yet honed enough to be worthy of making the list, so until that time I shall keep working hard, keep submitting work until I can solve the Hot Content mystery.
