Linnaea and Gudren found that the internet makes it a small world.

Linnaea Hanson, a native of Minnesota had a pen pall in Norway named Gudren who she communicated with in the fifties as a Campfire girl. They were pen palls from 1950 to 1955. They lost touch but Linnaea always remembered Gudren. While surfing the net 45 years later Linnaea thought about Gudren and reached out to people in Norway to help find her. A man wrote back that he had found her, and amazingly he had.
Linnaea found that she and Gudren in spite of the miles between them had led similar lives. They both had been married fifty years, each had two children and many grandchildren. Gudren had named one of her daughters Linnaea. Her friend had not forgotten. The two old friends continue to keep in touch and have passed on the pen pal tradition to two granddaughters who are now pen palls.
Another net user is Nick S. of Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Nick is on line looking at email and exchanging news and photos with family and friends before breakfast. His chat friends include 3 friends he found on the Internet after 50 years. When he and wife traveled across country in their RV they logged in on computers in libraries so friends and family could follow them on their travels. You really can’t be out of touch anymore unless you want to.

I’m a frustrated writer confesses Chuck B. Now since I’ve retired I can talk, tell tall tales, embellish the best parts and ignore the rest on the Internet. Chuck has a blog where people can read entries, respond and connect. People from over 20 countries have read his blog. He writes about all sorts of things. Among other things he wrote about the four month Manson trail and landing a blimp on an aircraft carrier. Chuck says, ” The beauty of retirement is having the time and energy to develop new interests, why I hardly know how I had the time to work.”
