This is also your typical Youtube  surfer, they spend their time on the Internet looking for amusement. These are very much like the type of person who spends their leisure time with a remote control in hand and in front of a television mindlessly clicking through channels until something, usually an episode of the TV show America’s Funniest Home Videos, makes them laugh. The Internet, for these people, is like an infinite episode of AFHV.

A few years back Britney Spears showed the world her genitals while exiting a vehicle. A well-known tabloid website reported it with pics and a blog I had at the time linked to that page on the tabloid website with censored versions of those pictures. I remember getting several thousand hits that day with almost no promotion. I had none of the actual pictures on my site, just a single link. Britney Spears’ vagina was somehow more attractive and interesting than the millions of vaginas that could be seen without restriction on the Internet. So much so that my free-hosted blog was getting tons of traffic for linking to it. For many users the nakedness of famous people is more fascinating that of mere commoners. It’s almost as if they are expected to have something different down there. Images of naked female celebrities never get old no matter how many of them there are on the Internet.

Show something cute or with a message, or some blatantly manipulative piece of kitsch that is supposed to make me nostalgic or long for some kind of love or affection. This kind of person tends to like inspiring the same kind of mawkish cloying emotions in others and they also tend to have email lists with which to do it. These people are usually female and highly hormonal, either going through menopause or something else. To cater to them you will want to have pictures of young animals on your website, preferably original content. They are addicted to that stuff the way some men are to pornography. It’s a compulsion and they are a guaranteed market. 

Shock Me

It doesn’t matter what with, this kind of surfer just wants to see something tasteless. They see themselves as being “brave” for their willingness to look at what others consider unsightly or disgusting. Their concept of bravery has been defined within the confines of their bedroom and the horror on the face of their younger siblings when shown something bloody. They have learned to steel themselves to gross spectacle after gross spectacle so as to seem brave. Being able to handle nauseating pictures on the Internet while int he safety of their home is their only claim to strength. This visitor will want pictures of crime scenes and pictures taken at automobile accidents and on battlefields. 

The Curious, Unspecific Hunter

This is a visitor with no specific goal in mind, simply seeking to discover something interesting on the Internet. They are valuable in that they have a wide range of interests and therefore a website that does not have focused, specific content will still be appealing to them.
