I personally hate spamming but until they come up with a more effective way to keep it out of my inbox I see know reason why I shouldn’t do it. Besides, the way I look at it, when I send links to my articles to people posting personal ads I’m sending valuable information….I’m not selling any b/s like some fake get-rich scheme or anything.

I second that Amen! When someone new shows up on my fan page, I check out their profiles. If my picture is not on the first page of their friends list, then I don’t bother reading their stuff unless it really interests me. Deleting spam is not that hard, some people just get annoyed too easily.

Amen! I’m starting to see success here on Triond now that I’m learning the delicate art of spamming. I have felt a little guilty, but I’m getting over it. There’s no way to get a high volume of readers if you keep your writing close to your chest. You’ve got to get it out there, make it prance around and do a little gig.

I think I can go along with some of this. I’ve gone to the personal ads on Craigslist and sent links to some of my relationship- and sex-related articles to randomly-picked users and got tons of views.

Funny because I wrote an article on how much I hate spam and I like the analogy of poop in the house and in the garden but I just hate spam either way because even if the dog poops in your garden, eventually, you have to scoop it out before it stinks up your patio. I respect your views, but save spam for somewhere else is what I suggest to spammers.

You explained it very well, and true! Yes, advertising is ’spammy’ but its the nature of the media. The key is to provide the service to more whom want to know of its existence than to be overheard by those whom don’t.
