Slaves of Technology

The development of the internet is good or bad?

Does anyone really remember the days when having access to the  internet or a cellular phone was not so prevalent? I know most people would have to really scratch their heads to remember those simple days. How did you communicate with family and friends on a regular basis? How often did you contact your friends and family members? Those are some questions i have been asking myself, because more and more people are saying they cant live without their laptops, smartphones and even mp3 or mp4 players. Have we become slaves of technology?

Before the popularity of cell phones and the internet people communicated by sending letters via post office, telegram or face to face if possible. When last have you recieved a mail from a friend via post office? Read carefully above folks i did not say e-mail, there is a difference. Do people bother to meet up with friends anymore? or yahoo messenger and hotmail messenger is more intimate these days.  Adults and kids alike are spending hours and hours of of precious time glued to  LCD screens. I bet mother nature is just as fun!

I am not saying we should throw away our gadgets and live like cavemen, but i think we all forgot one important word in the dictionary that is called, wait! guess! ok its called “balance”. When last you went outside and smell the roses so to speak, or observed something new in your community. Only robots behave the way humans are behaving now.

Everyone seem to only be interested in the new iphone or the new blackberry that is coming out or whatever “electronic syndrome” that you have. Life is too short to be hooked up to a machine all day and night, when there are so much other fun things you could be doing with friends and family. Nothing that these technology companies come out with that will be better than face to face interaction and i dont mean webcam chat. Seeing is one thing, but smelling, touching and just the natural vibe can never be programmed in a gadget, to give the same expereince as face to face interaction. So everyone put that in your pipe and smoke it slowly!

Well back when I was a student I had to stand in a cold phone box on the street to phone my parents. Frankly I prefer mobile phones because you can take them somewarm warm!
