Seven of the best URL shortening sites you could find.
1.
TinyURL
Just copy the long URL into the box and press “Make TinyURL!” and out comes your shortened URL. You also have the option of making a custom alias (http://tinyurl.com/???). This site also offers a toolbar, redirecting to any page on your site, and hide your affiliate URL. The redirecting function works like this. You type in the main page of your site, such as http://www.my-internet-isp.com/~myusername, and they give you a TinyURL, like http://tinyurl.com/3. Then you can redirect anyone on your site by adding a slash and the pages filename to it. You can also hide an affiliate link. So if you are going to put a link to an affiliated, you put the affiliated link into TinyURL and you get the link, and when a person clicks on the link it won’t show them the actual URL when they get to the page.
2.
Dot.TK
You type in your URL and you get to pick any open domain name, the only requirement is that it ends with .TK, so you can pick URLs like myblog.tk and joescookbook.tk. They also offer a service email redirecting service. The way this works is, you get a as many emails for your dot.tk domain and you can use them to redirect emails to your primary email such as Gmail or Yahoo mail. So you could have one for spam sites, one for your social network, and one for your friends. They also offer a service called tikinet and also a backwards search so you can find out the owner of this, but this won’t show your information, only if you sign up for a domain as a corporation.
3.
Cligs
This site is a pretty straight, with a couple extra features. You just paste the URL into the box and they’ll give you a shortened one, but there’s more. You can then track the traffic on the link in detail.
4. esyURL

This has the basic URL shortening, but has a couple more interesting features. They also have a tool that allows you to upload a file up to 2 MB and they’ll give you a esyURL. I know this is a pretty small file size cap, but it’s sufficient for documents. They also offer a variety of browser and Google desktop tools.
5. is.gd

This site is the absolute basic URL shortening tool. All it does is shorten URLs, so there isn’t much to say about this one.
6. urlPass

This is another site that is pretty much the basic URL shortening tool.
7. URL.ie

This final one is probably the most basic site on this list. So you could take it anyway, I saved the best for last or the not so good for last.

We recently launched a new website that provides a URL shortening service for “multiple” websites:
http://www.viewista.com
Viewista creates a short URL for “multiple” websites. Plus, you can view the multiple sites all at once. We think it can be a real time-saver. You can also post comments on the sites and share with your friends, making it a social URL sharing service. Viewista can be particularly useful on Twitter because a user can create a short URL for multiple sites on a topic without having to use multiple tweets.
