While beginning rounded to the English version of Wikipedia a sharp corner. There are now more than 100,000 articles in Danish on the user-driven network lexicon.

Article number 100000 was placed on the English version of Wikipedia 29th December and already had a week after the arrival of 700 more. The volume of articles is increasing continuously and is supplied by around 1,300 editors, who also takes care of updating the existing articles.

The English version of Wikipedia was opened in 2002 – a year after the establishment of the English language version, which currently has over two and a half million articles.

The main principles of Wikipedia is that it must be an open online encyclopedia designed as a wiki that anyone can edit – both add and change the text. The idea that anyone can contribute, however, over time, been tightened to prevent abuse, manipulation and vandalism. Whoever can not now simply go in and change in an article on Wikipedia.

The first few years consisted Danish Wikipedia most of the translated articles, but gradually came more and more nyskrevne English articles. In June 2005 there were 25,000 English articles. By the turn of the year 2006/07 rounded the 50,000, and since then the number of articles in Danish doubled.

Our neighbors have been even more diligently on Wikipedia. There are over 300,000 articles in the Swedish, Norwegian at 200,000 and 850,000 on the German Wikipedia. Together, there are over twelve million articles in about 75 different language versions of Wikipedia
