Search “North Korea” and one of the first websites that pop up is “The Official Webpage of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.” They call it DPRK for short; quite catchy. Once you see it, all you can do is sit in awe.
There are some pretty horrible websites out there that are generally for the wealthiest people or businesses that have no clue about how the internet works, enter North Korea stage right. Here is a listing of certain aspects of the website not to be missed. If you know of anyone on television, tell them to check it out so we can get the expose out to the world. Apparently, despite a potential nuclear war, no one takes the time to check the countries website.
Layout
The layout is straight from an eBay auction template and has no creativity whatsoever, which matches the style of those circa WWII army surplus store military uniforms. Not only are the pictures not sized correctly but the flag at the top has been reduced and stretched to look like a use car dealer advertisement.
Photos
Let’s not name names (cough cough) but look at the two handsome men with the so-over-the-top-and-badly-airbrushed photos in Photoshop that they look like play-doh dolls. Can they be serious? They are just screaming for subtitles. Better yet, Jon Stewart should print them out, and turn them into stick puppets for the Daily Show.
Logo
Oh, and the winner of the “Design a logo for the oppressive ruler hell-bent on taking over the world Contest” was just announced. You can see the logo right there, on the website. Seriously? Are they forcing ten year-olds in art sweat shops to make the currency now, too?
Travel
Yeah, I’m going to jump right onto a plane after seeing the ad on the page that says “Travel to DPR Korea” that has some sort of dancing soldier ensemble impersonating 500 village people in front of sign in a stadium being held up by hundreds of shackled free-thinkers making out a thinner, younger, leader of (say it with me) DPRK. Oh, and if you go there, they will kill you.
