Web Talk

Xkcd.com is a must-see web site for all, geeks and non-geeks alike. These are my 10 favorite comics from that site.

xkcd.com is probably my favorite site on the web. I love the simplicity of the artwork, which lets you focus on the sharp and intelligent humor. I love that these comics range from smart to silly to serious to downright absurd.  And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the witty mouse-over messages -  if you don’t read them, you are really missing out. I eagerly look forward to Randall Monroe’s creations every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Randall, kudos and keep up the great work.

I was sitting around with some friends talking about our favorite xkcd comics, which led to this compilation of my personal top ten. It was really difficult to pick just 10, but for what it’s worth, here they are….

Advanced Technology

I remember when I first read this one -  I looked up Von Neumann in Wikipedia, which led to several hours of tangential Wikipedia surfing….

Kepler

One of Randall’s earlier comics. Flashback to high school physics.

Success

http://xkcd.com/349/

This exact thing has happened to me on a couple of occasions. OK, except for the part with the sharks.

Compiling

http://www.xkcd.com/303/

This is a favorite of some of the code monkeys I work with.

Floor Tiles

http://www.xkcd.com/245/

I used to do this walking through the mall when I was in high school. I thought I was the only one.  Now I know I’m not alone in the world.

Regular Expressions

http://www.xkcd.com/208/

I love perl.

Science

http://www.xkcd.com/54/

I have to admit that I don’t understand the details of what this graph represents. But I know enough to know that science works. Bitches.

Exploits of a Mom

http://xkcd.com/327/

Bobby Tables can really wreak havoc on your databases if you let him.

Labyrinth Puzzle

http://xkcd.com/246/

I’ve stayed up nights wondering what I would do in this situation….

Sandwich

http://xkcd.com/149/

The comic that started it all for me.

That’s it, thanks for checking out my xkcd top 10 list.  sudo tell your friends to check it out too.

    Stryker,
This is a really great top ten list, Regular Expressions made me laugh my socks off. You can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and then link back to your site. We are looking for top ten lists and our users can track back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

Thanks, I think I will. BTW, I know my #10 image is wrong. I fixed it and am waiting for the change to update.
