Any success? Any big break? Have I been Stumbled upon? How many page views have I gotten in one week? How much money have I earned in one week?
OK. Time for honesty (I’m a big believer in that…well, I have to be honest now, since I wrote “The Honesty Test: Does Honesty Still have Value?” I’d be incredibly hypocritical if I didn’t follow my own advice. So, if you are interested in what happened to me, an average “joe,” during my first week of writing on Triond, I won’t spare myself any punches. I am going to tell it with no fingers crossed.
To keep everything in perspective, in my first week, I wrote a total of seven articles, three of which were published during that time, two of which are pending, and two of which are in draft form, but done. They are waiting to link to the two articles that are pending.
Any Success at Triond?
This is an interesting question. If you spell success in terms of money…well, the answer would be a big fat “NO.” To make sure I tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, I am going to go look at my earnings as of this exact moment and let you know how much I have made…it says…er…um, well, it says (said under my breath), .05.
Now, moving past that admission quickly, let’s talk about success. I would have to say that I still consider this a success. I can hear you all crying “Are you crazy?” No. Not crazy. Just learning. I’ve learned how to add a picture and how to create links in my article. I haven’t figured out all the submitting to other places that needs to be done, though I’ve tried a few. I’ve learned how to make friends who enjoy writing as much as me, and through reading their articles, I’ve learned all sorts of information about dozens of topics. So, I like that part of success.
How many page views have I gotten in one week?
Let me go look. Ah. Just as I expected…it’s pretty sad looking:
- How to Protect Yourself from the Poisonous Brown Recluse Spider 16 page views (earned .03)
- The Honesty Test: Does Honesty Still Have Value? 14 page views (earned .01)
- Does Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle Deserve All the Attention she has gotten? 15 page views (earned .02)
By seeing this, I’ve also learned something, payouts are different based on what site your article is on.
I can’t remember which Triond writer gave this advice, but he or she said to start by writing a wide variety of topics and see what works best, so I took that advice. So far everything looks pretty even. Unfortunately, it also looks like I have yet to be discovered.
Have I been Stumbledupon?
Uh, that would be a “no.” In fact, I think I accidentally clicked I didn’t like my own article. Somehow I also managed to delete it as one of my favorites, and can’t figure out how to get it back. By the way, I tried to google my Honesty article to see how far down the stack at google it was, and I never did find it (hehe).
So, I have a lot to learn. But hey, I’m a learner.
Please feel free to post any advice to me and other newbies, or if you want to post links to articles that you have written addressing anything that might help newbies learn the process please do so. As more get added, it can be a good resource for finding out the inside scoop. I know I want to read them.
I have added a link to an interesting article about which Triond sites and topics pay more per page view:

You are such a quick learner. It took me six months to find out how things work. I love the honesty with which you write.

You got off to a great start! It took me a month to earn my first 7 cents, and almost a year to learn how to add pictures and links.
But I make friends very quickly and learned, as you have, that Triond is an excellent place for writers all over the world to “meet”.

Great article! The biggest thing I have learned is how big a difference the support of Triond friends can make – my most successful articles (in terms of page views and earnings) have been the ones a friend has kindly stumbled for me. I’m really grateful for the supportive community on here. Keep writing quality articles and the page views will come!

Triond is one half writing and one half promoting. The better your articles are the easier they are to promote. As far as money goes it really matters what keywords you have in your articles. The better paying keywords will generate more revenue for you over time.

Thanks you, my friends, for all your encouraging posts! Thanks, Joe for posting your article link…I read it and found it full of stuff I had no idea about. When I look back over this quick, short, week, I am amazed at how many other articles and topics I have learned from. I had no idea about that before I decided to give Triond a try.
So, thanks,

Momma Tells, I put in 3 months and now average 1.00 per month!!!!! Woo-hoo! But I absolutely agree with you in terms of success. I have learned so much from writing and reading in this venue, and am now earning as a writer elsewhere as well. Triond is an incredible place, full of some very special people.

I get most of my hits from Yahoo Answers. I can answer and ask questions and link my sites and or pictures to them. I am finally starting to make a little money. I should have my first paycheck from Triond next month. I have been posting with them for a little over a year.

It is a slow money maker, but a great learning experience. Lots of great writers on Triond…

Hang in there, It does get better. After a while your articles will gain a momentum of their own. Also do not neglect to market your articles as well as write them.
