One of the lovely things about Triond is developing a social group of writers. Occasionally, there are those who just don’t seem to “get” what that part of Triond is all about.
I opened up my Triond messages. It’s one of my first things to do when I wake up–check my comments, open my messages, then read the news feed if I have time.
Messages are a special treat. I had a nice long one from Nick Kenney about his house renovations. He has some good pics of it posted–check it out!
Paul Roberts, Darrell W Penner and Ruby Hawk had messages about availability of articles thanks to the Authorspot server move. Hopefully we’ve got that all out of the way, now.
Sometimes Pam (P R Mace) will send a note–although mostly she makes really nice comments.
But right there in the middle of my correspondence was an irritation! “Hi! Check out this site to make money…”
I won’t post the person’s handle. He or she knows who perpetrated this indignity. It was not a person on my friend list–I will say that much.
This particular message wasn’t as bad as some of them. It referred to a Bukisa article posting. As it happens, I already have a Bukisa account–and one on Associated Content, Helium, and Ehow. I would look for more, but since I’m having an interesting time keeping up with five publishers, I don’t think I should take on another.
But I digress. Using the messages or comments to advertise your work–unless it is an article on the topic, or has relevancy to the work posted–is more than a little rude. I am too tired and busy this morning to read back through the Triond contract, but I believe it may even be against the Rules.
So to those of you who take the time to read, post comments, and send the occasional message–Paul Roberts, Darrell W Penner, Ruby Hawk, B Nelson, Buzz Light Ale, George W Whitehead, P.R. Mace, Mama Tells, Ramalingam Subramaniam, Christine Ramsay, Ken Bultman, and many others, I thank you very much for taking the time to look over my work and make comments. I know how long it can take to read through a backed up newsfeed and try to say something helpful and pleasant when you are nodding off at the end of a long day.
As for the other person(s), who shall remain nameless: delete that fly, you Person from Porlock, and don’t put it in anyone’s ointment!

Daisy, don’t take any notice of them. I get these all the time. People I’ve never heard of send messages saying they’ve read my stuff and could I read (a link).
I’m not here much any more and am preparing to go in for surgery, so I don’t have time to answer them either. Just get on with your stuff and ignore these links. They go away soon enough.

Thanks for the minor diatribe. Might I add that I believe Triond is a site for folks to hone and showcase their writing abilities and not for use to further their personal agenda however noble.

It is matter of concern and of course a minor irritant as you said.I hope things will improve in the future.

I get these as well. The ones I find especially annoying are the comments that don’t even acknowledge the subject of my article, and only spam their own stuff. Then there are the folks who show up on my fan list, but when I go to check out their profiles, my picture is on the third or fourth page of their friends list. Worse yet, their friends list is in alphabetical order!
There’s my rant for the day.

I have had some of these as well. They are very annoying. However my group of friends more than make up for the odd irritation.

a good share honestly

ain’t it the truth! I hate those messages too.
I personally seldom send messages, it just takes too long to load some peoples profile pages to send them a message, infact with dial up, it occassionally shuts down while loading..
it would almost be great if we had a REPORT THIS MESSAGE button on triond so people who spam these messages could be dealt with…

I’ve gotten them too,and I’m at Bukisa, just got another this morning.

I’m either extremely unpopular or very lucky! As far as I can recall, I have never received one of these spam messages, but I have seen them on friends sites when I comment.
Having said that, I suspect that I may get inundated with them now!

I think I’ve had just one and I ignored it. I write mainly stories, I guess you either like them or you don’t.

Unsolicited PM = “spam”
Good article.

Daisy, I’ll bet I got the same one. I have them almost everyday. I think spam is a fact of life these days. Just ignore them and don’t let them irriate you.

I agree completely. I have not had this problem here yet, but I get those at other sites and to me they are just as rude no matter where or when I get them.

Daisy,
I think I got the same one you did. I hate to get a message, I love you and please read me when I have never seen a comment from them on anything I have written. Thanks for adding my name. I do try to leave nice comments. I too love to get messages. Nick Kenney writes the best ones and yes I loved the pictures of his house. I am behind and trying to work my way through the backlog of news feed myself.
Catch you later, Pam

I got all these messages as well. Just ignore them. I do try my best to leave comments since I’ve to work full time. Thanks and have my liked it. Keep it up!

Get them all the time too Daisy! Especially on business articles.
