Journeys to the Far Side of the Internet

Web Talk

There are parts of the internet that are just down right weird, strange, or simply have no seeming purpose whatsoever. They may just make you laugh, sigh or go and do something more interesting instead. Take a look and join us on some journeys to the far side of the Internet.

  1. 404

  2. It can be really annoying when you get the 404 message. Depressing, some might say. However, how do you think the web server feels? Spare a moment for his thoughts and visit this site. Tears will follow.

  3. Stripes

  4. Go, pussycat, go!

  5. Why Germany Lost the War

  6. A question which has raged since 1945 – why exactly did Germany lose the war? Here, the debate comes to its conclusion. Insightful and deep, this will finally reveal to you why the lovely Germans won a not so lovely war.

  7. Is Bush President?

  8. Well. It might not be for too much longer – but the dynasty could continue if his daughters decide to go in to politics. Find out about whether or not he is – or not.

  9. Zombie Harmony

  10. Any site with the tag line “Because the apocalypse doesn’t have to be lonely” deserves at least the most cursory glance. If you are a zombie and are looking for a date, then this free website could be your passport to love. Or lunch. Whatever.

  11. Dead Centre

  12. Go on, click the link, you know you want to!

  13. Hypnodisc

  14. If you have a colleague at work who doesn’t do anything except stare at their computer screen all day, then you may want to send them the link for this site. If they still don’t get it, then hit them over the head with a shovel and refer them to Zombie Harmony. Really.

  15. Exactitudes

  16. Have you ever thought that people are of a limited number of types and that they can be pigeon holed, all over the world? If your friends disagree and tell you that everyone is unique, send them here. Then laugh.

  17. Dog Dog Dog

  18. You will either find this little pooch desperately cute or he will give you nightmares. Forever.

  19. Terror Ready

  20. Terrorists are everywhere. This useful site from the Department of Homeland Panic will guide you through you various options. A handy list of ways to die, things to worry about and stuff to do with duct tape will all aid your preparedness for your inevitable demise at the hands of a heart eating terrorist. Enjoy.

  21. Conclave Obscurum

  22. This is a Russian site, so for many that in itself would go a certain way to explaining just how weird it is. Go see for yourself. If you understand it, then post a comment below. Please explain it. Please. I beg you.

  23. Lazy Jane

  24. What would you do if you needed a glass of water? Go to the tap? Visit a shop? Find out what Jane would do!

  25. Fubbs

  26. There is an answer to an old question, and that is “because it can”. The question is, “Why does a dog lick its own bottom?” The answer to the question you will ask about this site is “Because it does”. Go figure.

  27. The End

  28. Yes, it’s the end. Does the link above finish up anywhere? Take a peek; it’s almost time for bed. Good night Mary Ellen. Good night, John Boy.

I thonk that the russian site has a math purpose, the numbers among the line has to be the resultant of the equation beneath them, but what is K?, then the page put you links that send you to other pages most of them in Russian, weiard site that one.
In number 13 there are games, in number nine yje eyes dog follow the mouse arrow.
Strange web pages, and funny too.

“I thonk that the russian site has a math purpose, the numbers among the line has to be the resultant of the equation beneath them, but what is K?”

Uh…kilobytes? That was just a download progress animation. The site is an artist’s site.

  6. Ryan Says:

Lazy Jane is a poem by the late Shel Silverstein, which is photocopied directly from his book and presented on the linked page without attribution. It would be nice if you would at least provide for their lack.

  7. R J Evans Says:

Thanks Ryan… You have done it for me! Thanks again!

  8. rene Says:

loved most of these. except the dog. you were right about the nightmares. ps, timecube? nah… badly put together, offensive and clearly the product of a brain deprived of oxygen in early life.

  13. Sean Says:

    I love the Russian website!
Especially the sporadic interruptions that shift the entire webpage, but return it just as it was! (Comes after the opening screen game…)
Go there are read “About” it on the link labeled “Disclamat”.

  14. desmonrock21 Says:

I was afraid when i saw the last one. What if the internet will end?

  15. Darko Says:

  21. Tanya Urbane Says:

    wow awsome list.
Conclave Obscurum is the artist’s portfolio. Done very cleverly. The words are link and they reveal the thumbnails, which then reveal the artwork.

  22. Tanya Urbane Says:

Ooops, it’s actually a group of artists. They have contact and animations there too. awesome, I think I’m inspired. Have to go redesign my online design portfolio….

  23. mememe Says:

    #11 was a designers website

  24. WyrdNEXUS Says:

I think i got some of that game figured out… match the center image to the stamina image, and click.

stamina number determines damage you take.
If your image is matching the stamina image when it moves, you don’t take (as much?) damage…

as to what the attack does… didn’t figure that out. :P
really well-done site tho, and it has alot of symbolism and allegories from a few modern, and at least one ancient, mystic religions. I’m really curious about the meaning of the twisted tree-of-life now tho: http://www.conclave.ru/ipsum/yggdrasil.gif

    and I’m totally sending

  25. dandydave Says:
