Intrusion Of Privacy.
Privacy commonly known as something secret, no one should know things. According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia, the term privacy brought a meaning of the ability of individual or group to seclude themselves or any information related to them from be known by the others. In fact, privacy also means private, anonymity; remain unnoticed or unidentified in the public realm. Privacy is basically about the individual information, something that considered inherently special and sensitive to be known by others.
Privacy can be invaded. This kind of invasion also known as intrusion of privacy, defined as act of getting into an individual or group secret information like identity number, personal activities, and any kind of individual properties. A simple example, last week news, a wife claim a police report to her own husband because her husband invade her own privacy with spreading her sexual act pictures to the public. This kind of situation shows only a little bit of intrusion of privacy. There are lot more kinds of intrusion either the one you notice or not. One of them is in aspect of Information Technology (IT).
Do you have a Friendster™? MySpace™? Or even a blog about yourself? Did you realize you are actually giving you privacy to the others? That is called intrusion of privacy in aspect of IT. Without being notice, when you are signing up for any social web or email account, you are actually sharing information about yourself to all human kind. Your address, pictures and maybe your background should be noted to create a profile in social web or an email account like Yahoo! Mail and Gmail. Although it is in the name of using their services which is the social web and email account, it also be considered as intrusion of privacy since the service provider known one’s detail information and can definitely track the person’s home, activities and background that only supposed to be known by the person himself only.
The question now is did we should limit our privacy exposed to the others if it is just to exchange with the unnecessary, short-term service provided? In my own opinion, my answer is yes. One should not eagerly expose all about his/her privacy just because to get a certain services those are not really necessary and has no benefits at all. It is like putting yourself in danger situation. As an example, you need to insert your account number to buy something online but it is not really like it was. What about is it only a phishing? Maybe it is just a simple trap to get an account number of careless users, then hacking into the account without permission and the most bad one, withdrawn all the saving saved an entire life. In this situation, we actually should bear that we should more careful when dealing with privacy and internet especially when it is about our own security and financial. I think no one want to see all their saving lost in a blink. Don’t you?
Almost everyone living on earth has at least a PC and they are using it almost every day. To do works, playing, get in touch with friends, and even shopping can be done right at home. All you need is only connection to the internet. There are a lot of advantages when using internet but there are also danger and disadvantages comes from internet. Just like said before-privacy intrusion. Those who expose the information about themselves to the others unknown and cannot be trusted, actually in risk of being intrude by the unknown through the information given. It is as simple as you giving your address information. People today love to find their date through internet. Without knowing any of the date background, some people willingly sharing anything about him/her. “Man charged with sexual assault of girl he met on internet”, “15 year old girl allegedly kidnapped by man she met on internet”, this kind of news always appeared on news web. All of this start from getting in into the privacy of the victim and finally no more tears could help. Besides, there are already advanced software to search everything on earth surface. As an example, Google Earth Pro. For prestigious companies or country, the terrorists as an example, no more need to spend a lot of human force to get access in the building security. All they need is internet and the password login that can be took from any mistake of anybody in the same company. By using Google Earth- Explore, Search, and Discover service as an example, they can log in from anywhere on the world. All of this is only a little bit of dangers and disadvantages of giving up the privacy without limit.
Actually the options already there if we want to avoid this unexpected situation from happening. Trust the one that you can only trust. That is the keyword. Same as when you are dealing with internet about your privacy of finance and security. Avoid exposing your privacy to the company that you just heard or known. Try to use the one you already trust before even the services are not as great as the others. At least you are more secured. Use the one who have an agreement about promising in securing your privacy as long as you are using their services. Besides, avoid from joining a lot of social web community, finance web service, online dating and so on. Join and participate in only the necessary and important only while still limit your privacy exposed. Through this, you will be more secured and you privacy information will never being misused.
By entering an organization like school, office company and else, you need to hand in a few of your information especially you bank account to transfer the monthly payment and bonuses. But when you end your study or resigned from the company, did they erase all of your information? Did they need to do so? Based on my opinion, they should completely destroy all of information taken from an individual when he/she completed or resigned from his/her job. This is because; logically there is no more use of keeping your information but exposing you into risk of stealing of your information. Besides, to pursue for another job or title, you maybe doesn’t want to have any relation with previous job as it may affect the new one and the life ahead.
