I started using Yahoo Answers a month ago to promote my articles on Triond, a content writing website. It went well, I went all the way to level two on the Yahoo Answers point system and got some traffic. Not bad. It was fun too, answering questions to other people’s problems. In a way, I felt superior.
Since Yahoo Answers was doing so well for me, why not promote other people’s websites and get paid for that too. Which is why I became a Yahoo Answerer for hire and made a quick $30 off that little racket for a week. In hindsight, I should have charged more because promoting on Yahoo Anwers is risky business.
Then I got suspended, after 1 month of hard work building up my points.
Next time read the rules. Suspension is forever. And I read the rules again.
There is a lot the Yahoo Answers Terms of Service does not explicitly explain
1. Suspension or getting banned is forever. Even if they say you can appeal, forget it.
2. You can loose your email account if you get banned and all your contacts. Harsh. Use gmail as your primary email instead.
3. You cannot open another Yahoo Answers account with the same computer (IP address) after you have been suspended. There is a two week block on your IP address.
4. You can link to your website. You can link to your articles. But you cannot link to an affiliate marketing page that is not connected with Yahoo. Automatic suspension.
5. Small violations and reports just get your answers deleted. But linking to an outside sales page will get you banned.
6. There are users on Yahoo Answers who aggressively report “abusers” because each report they make hikes up their credibility points. Beware.
7. If you do get suspended, all the answers you left behind along with their links remain. Yahoo Answers does not take them out. Unless they were previously deleted for violations. But all the good answers stay, which is the only thing good to come out of this experience for me.

I feel bad for you.=(( I too answer in yahoo, but I am not that active. I am not familiar with the outside dealings with yahoo but how exactly do you promote other people’s website and charge for that?Its harsh losing your email, its like you lost your home as well.

Let me get this clear…you got suspended for posting links and promoting other sites right? I guess, if you get to be able to sign up for a new account, don’t do the same thing anymore.
I’d hate to lose my yahoo mail even if I have gmail.
