Details how to deal with cyber bullying if it were to occur to you or someone else.
Cyber bullying is a new way that bullies can target their victims. This is something that most people are unaware of. When it comes to being harassed and bullied on the internet, there are a number of things that you can do. If you ever notice that your child is being bullied online, make sure that you encourage your child not to respond to these threats or actions. If you notice that they are persistent, and the bully breaks the law after a number of attempts,. there are things that you can do to get the bully located and traced. if you feel that you are being threatened or your child is being threatened, you can contact your service provider or authorities to be able to track down the individual and to press charges against the person in question, if it become severe enough.
There are a number of other things that you can also do before you contact the authorities. You can actually make sure that you block the person who is trying to harass you or your child. Often times when someone tries to threaten someone else or uses bad language on a public service, they can be removed or banned so that the behavior does not continue. In most cases, after repeated attempts and blocks on the bully, there will be no more instances of harassment or bullying. If this happens at school, you should contact your school administrator for more assistance.
If you find any other instances of bullying and you are aware of the cyber bullies identity, you could make sure that their parents find out about what is going on. If you have evidence you should compile it and send it off to their parents with your concerns in a letter in a non confrontational manner so that the problem can be addressed and hopefully stopped once and for all.
Most of the time children are not aware of the seriousness of what they are doing online until someone gets involved like an authority figure, so if you feel that your child is being harassed, you should do all that is within your power to make them aware that this is something that is highly illegal so that it can be stopped. Sometimes cyber bullying can become very serious and have even more damaging emotional consequences than can traditional bullying so make sure that you do everything to prevent this from happening. Cyber bullying is no different than regular bullying in any way shape or form.
