Almost everyone has heard about the terrifying, threatning, most scary viruses. Anyone that likes

their computer enough will try to stay away from them. How does one know what is safe and not safe while searching the net? You don’t, unless you have protection!

Even anti-virus programs can’t even detect threats. So, here’s the solution!

Most anti-virus programs can’t catch you on the website that might be malicious right that second. You need instant protection on the internet. And if you don’t have that, you’re only have half the protection you really need.

A lot of people have AVG, which is pretty good. But its LinkScanner is the most TERRIBLE LinkScanners I have ever seen. It gives the most un-legit sites green ratings! Don’t get it. Trust me. What you need, it WOT! Web of Safety. It gives the most accurate ratings so you won’t have to run into scams or viruses. It’s a free download, so it costs nothing.

Here’s an example of WOT’S work.

Let’s say that you’re tired of your screensaver and want to change it. You go and do a typical Google search.

Here’s the search screen. WOT gives the first site a “red” (Red=Stop! Hault! Don’t go there!) rating. It gives the next site a “yellow” rating. (Yellow=Warning! May harm your computer.) Then the third result is a “green” rating. (Green=Site is safe.) Oops! You click on the top without thinking. Here’s the message you get:

Then it tells you that the site is bad, at the top of your screen, and in the main viewing area. It tells you the sites rating, and gives you a button that will take you out right away. Some sites will be pesky and give you repetitive messages to get you to stay longer. WOT can take you right out of them. It doesn’t actually block the website, it would just block it from view.

My Tips:

1. NEVER click Sponsered Links on the side of a search page. They can often be scams and redirect you to dangerous pages. Sponsered Links is just a nicer way of saying Advertisements.

3. Get Firefox 3 or 3.5. It has features that will keep you safe. Go to: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html
4. Make sure you have a good anti-virus program. If you don’t, AVG is the way to go. Go to: http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
