For those of you who are already a part of Triond, you know that the biggest challenge is getting enough pageviews to make the entire process worthwhile. Depending on how fast you can research and write, it may take you an hour to write an article or it may take you 10 minutes. The point is not how fast you can write, but how willing you are to make the commitment to keep writing, especially during the first few months when you don’t seem to be making any money. And trust me, you will definitely have a few of those.

This is the second part in this series. Part one had some valuable tips for writing more content, so check it out first before reading this one:

Increase Your Triond Views #2- Promote Your Articles

I don’t know how many people do this, but it’s one of the biggest factors in increasing your Triond views. When you publish an article, if you look at the “Content” tab in your home screen you’ll see a list of every article you’ve published. On the right side are four icons: share, fix, relocate, and delete.

share button

The share button opens up a list of nearly 300 social media, bookmarking, and sharing sites that you can use to promote your articles. Use them! I’ve gone through every single site in that list, and personally narrowed down the options to a shorter list that works for me. Some of them are in a different language, and some of them just take too much time to promote each article. My list contains ones that are in English, and are essentially “one click submission.” That is, all I do is click the site, hit submit, and my article was submitted to their site. I’m not going to list every one that I use, but you definitely want to check out:

  • Digg

  • StumbleUpon

  • LinkedIn

  • Twitter

  • Tumblr

  • Webshare

  • Facebook

If you don’t have accounts at any of those, make one. I have a separate Yahoo email address for all of these accounts so that they don’t clutter up my normal inbox. It’s going to take a few hours to actually go through, find the good sites, and make accounts, but it’s going to be worth it after that. (If you have a Digg account you can find me at Handleynation to share diggs).

The second part of promoting your Triond articles is using blogs to comment on related topics. Let’s say you write an article about gardening tips. You can do a Google Blog search for gardening blogs and then leave a comment with a link to your article. A lot of you do that in comments here on Triond, and there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.

When you’re commenting, don’t just say, “Great article. Check out my link.” Instead, write something useful, adding some tips of your own. You might say something like, “I’ve found that adding pinewood mulch on top of the soil around my chrysanthemums is a great method for keeping weeds down. I actually mentioned the different mulches you could use in this article if you want to look.” That way you’re giving people something useful rather than just being a spamming pest. Some blogs won’t let you leave hyperlinks in comments, but will let you put a website that your name will link to. Use your article URL as the website.

I’ve also found that starting arguments on blog posts is a great way to get more traffic, but use that at your own discretion.

Promoting your articles is an excellent way to double or triple your daily views, and I use these methods for every article I post.

Again, I liked this article, very nice and informative share. Although I must ask, can we really gain views from twitter?

Aha, starting an argument. I think I’m too afraid to do that (and I always seem to lose when it comes to arguments X_X).
