How to make sure your internet sources are reliable.
The Internet offers a wide variety of sound, fair, reputable sources on a wide range of topics. Unfortunately, this vast resource is also flooded with an astonishing number of disreputable sites. Learning to distinguish between the two is the worthy venture we undertake today. Finding good sites will be the key to your success using online material.
For the purposes of evaluating sites today, we will use the topic of Illinois media favorite son Drew Peterson (a topic that you will not be using for your paper).
Click on the addresses below and examine each site. Read some of the material there. Evaluate the site using the criteria contained in the research project packet. What do you notice about each site? What are the differences? What do you find questionable about each? What is good? Jot some notes for a class discussion to follow shortly.
