How to Block A Website


I. Introduction

Either you’re a parent or you are that older brother who wants to know how to get around a manual blocked website, this guide will help you understand how a manual blocked website works.

II. What To Do

1. Click the Start button.

2. Select Run. Now type in the Run box: notepad c:WINDOWSsystem32driversetchosts

3. You will see a notepad that looks just like this.

If so, you did it right.

4. As you see, I have i have weeworld and gaia on my list. Basically you put in what I put in but replace weeworld and such with whatever site you want. Save and WALA! You have blockwd the site.

    Dude, it says it doesn’t exist. Your instructions don’t have slashes either but I did it the exact same way.

    Also, when I open Windows->System32->Drivers->etc and open hosts in the notepad program, I make the change and save it but it says

    “cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file
    Make sure that the path and filename are correct”

    I really need to block a site, and badly, without anyone figuring it out, so cmon answer ASAP.

    Yes I did it that exact same way.
    Same issue as my last message.
    I don’t know, maybe Vista won’t allow it so I’m screwed.
