Here, a quick review of Google Docs and its applications of wordprocessor, spreadsheet and presentations.

Google docs is an alternative to Microsoft Office that you can used online at no cost.  This program has applications of wordprocessor, spreadsheet and presentations that are similar to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, respectively. You do not need to download any software to your computer. Several useful functions are autosave, revision history and rename. Autosave is a function that save frequently your documents. Revision history records all the changes that you can do to the document every time that the document is saved. Rename is a useful function that you can change the name of the file without using the function save as. There are available many free templates to use with google docs.

Wordprocessor

It is easy to use, if you know Word or OpenOffice, you can easily learn to use Google Docs. It can upload files in different formats: HTML(zipped), OpenOffice, PDF, RTF, text and word. It has 11 style of fonts. Another interesting tools that have this wordprocessor are: Check spelling, word count, look up word, search the web for word and search the web for word images. Using the feature look up the word you can look for definition, use to find definition, synonymous and the word in an encyclopedia.

Spreadsheet

This is a friendly spreadsheet application, that has the basic commands. You can upload worksheets in the following formats: CVS, XLS, ODS and PDF. The menus are very clear, it easy to understand what each command does when you see it.  Another things that you can do is to insert math formulae, financial formulae, logical formulae, statistical formulae and others. In addition has other functions:  charts, images and gadgets. Gadgets are small miniature objects that offer useful content that you can put in any page on the web.

Presentations

It has only basic commands. You can upload files in PPT and PPS formats. You can jot down observations related to every slide easily.

Forms

You can create forms using Google Docs. When you create forms you can send these via email and receive the answers in a worksheet, in this way is you easily analize the he information.

Collaborative environment

One of the most powerful tool that has Google Doc is that you can share documents, worksheets and presentations with other as collaborators or as viewers.

Although Google Docs has size limits for uploading files, depending on whether you want to upload a file from your computer from the Internet or from an e-mail and it does not has as many commands as Microsoft Office or OpenOffice, Google Docs is a good tool for use in most of the common uses in the home and office.

    Yes, You can upload files in the .doc format. Also you can copy and paste text from Word to Google Docs.
