A list of five websites for book lovers.

  • GoodReads is as excellent and easy to use website that lets you keep track of what books you’ve read and want to read. You can see what you friends have read, are reading and read their reviews. You can add your own reviews and see other people reviews. You can also create lists for which everyone can vote and comment on.
  • Eserver’s Fiction Collection. Eserver’s Fiction Collection is a website cataloguing a variety of works of fiction and works about fiction that are in the pubic domain. It includes novels by a variety of authors from Aphra Behn to Walter Scott, Short stories by writers including the Brother’s Grimm and Nathaniel Hawthorne. It also has a collection of biographies, essays and journals to pore over.
  • Free Classic Audio books is a small collection of essential, classic books. It has a huge variety of books to download from The King James Bible to Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness to Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Grey. The audio books are available to download in two formats, in mp3 and in m4b. The website is basic and doesn’t have a search function so you have to go through the lists to find something specific.
  • Books should be free. As the name suggests this is a website offering a huge collection books to download for free. It has a huge collection of texts and audio books; in the collection are the usual novels but also books on anthropology, philosophy and even medical texts.
  • Globusz publishing is a publishing website devoted to promoting new and lesser known authors. The website provides as huge collection of lesser known authors and is definitely worth a look if you want to try something new. The books are not just fiction or poetry but there’s a huge collection of cookery, economic and tutorial books available to read on the website or download.
