Cyber Synergy: Using Different Sites to Work Together for Self Promotion

This discusses how someone could use different websites to work together for promoting themselves, their business or their products.

Online self promotion is a valuable component for success in business. It may also be a very cost effective means of marketing. However, we don’t want to put all of our eggs in one basket. We should use multiple websites when attempting to promote ourselves. Synergy is when two or more components work together to achieve an objective. You should use a synergistic approach when promoting yourself or your business online.

I operate from multiple websites for the specific purposes of promoting my websites, my music, my writing and my products. I have a primary website called craypoe.com, a music website (craypoe.com/bob), a myspace profile, facebook profile and publish articles online through triond.com. I also have a youtube channel and a profile on a musician’s site called musicforte.com. And those are just the ones that I can recite from memory.

All of my profiles or websites will point to at least one other site that I am associated with. Triond.com is a very easy website to publish your articles through. It also allows you to make money from your articles. But you don’t want to rely solely upon them for readership. So what I do is direct some traffic to my articles from my websites and my myspace profile.

Myspace allows you to post your own blog. You can even have other myspace members subscribe to your blog. So what I do is post a blog that advertises the latest article I’ve published online through Triond.com. The blog just gives a description of the article and includes a link that will take them directly to the page of the article. I actually had a reader from myspace go to the site the article was published on, read the article and then post a favorable comment on my myspace blog page. So I learned that it actually worked for articles, just from the first time that I tried it. And that was only two articles ago.

Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to know what efforts are going to be effective until you try them. Although one thing is certain: you only get out of something what you are willing to put into it. Basically, unless you are willing to try a number of approaches, you will never find out what actually works.

I get thousands of visitors to my websites every month. Most of them I get through the search engines. That’s free traffic. To have some idea of how big I am at the moment, just type craypoe into Google. See how many results you get and how many actually refer to only me. I am not bragging, I am merely attempting to demonstrate a point. That point is that I must be doing something right. Notice how I said something and not everything.

There are so many things I haven’t tried yet but of those things that I have tried, a good number of them worked. They all also started out as speculation on my part. They started out with me saying: “I wonder if I tried this, would it work?”

One of the things that did work, and started out as a theory, was using the synergistic approach to self promotion. I pull in people through myspace who will go to my websites from there or to read my articles on another site. I might get someone to read my articles and then check out my websites after reading them.

Someone might stumble upon my youtube channel and then go to one of my sites from there. So this approach allows me to reach more people from different demographics and interests. It has worked for me and it will work for you.

Establishing and maintaining a high profile on the internet is not easy. It requires time and effort. But even a moderate amount of effort over an extended period of time will pay off in the end. There is no substitute for hard work but it does pay off in the end.

This year, I just moved into the ranks of the self employed. All of my income comes from self employment. I currently make more money now than I did when I worked for someone else. That includes what I made in overtime. However, I had been working on my websites and music for years, without making any money at all.

I would work on my websites after a day of work. There were some weeks when I would do 20 hours of overtime on my day job and still worked on my websites. Websites that weren’t making any real money. Some people thought I was stupid for working so hard on something that was not producing any income. But now I am self employed, doing what I enjoy doing and they are all still working at a job they hate.

One of the things that allowed me to get to where I am was using the synergistic approach to online self promotion. The benefits didn’t happen overnight for me. They probably won’t for you either. Just remember, though: it pays off big time, in the long run. So now I am taking that approach with article writing. That means, for better or for worse, that you will be hearing more from me. And to further demonstrate the approach I speak so fondly of:

To find out more about my websites, music or myself, go to Craypoe.

That’s just me taking the synergistic approach to online self promotion. You should try it too.

You sound like a very hard worker. Congrats on all the success you’ve had. I’m just a newbie right now…

I was a newbie once myself. There is a lot to learn and experiment with. The best way to make progress though is to try different things. Then do more of what works and less of what doesn’t. That will maximize the effectiveness of your efforts.
