Is romance really possible via internet?
With the hustle and bustle of modern living, do people still have time to intimate relationships?

Human apparently will always find ways to interact – whether as phone pals, text mates, or cyber pals. Intimacy can develop and thrive in cyberspace. Intimacy is disclosing one’s self to the other person, in whatever ways.

People can get together, intellectually and emotionally without being there physically. In fact, the internet has mad the world shrink in size as people from different parts of the world connect and make exchanges.

Cyberspace has its unique features. Here, people get to know each other mentally and emotionally even before they can assess each other physically.

Individuals who indulge in cyber relationship usually take another identity, a cyber name, as form of safeguard. Safeguard, because initially, there is the acknowledgment that the other person on the line is a stranger. They are on guard. But when the chats are extended, the masks begin to fall. At some point, they start to remove their masks, and show their identity.

And the more you disclose yourself, the more you experience guilt if you try still continue to wear that mask. When one party makes his/her revelation, the other person will usually reciprocate. Therefore, cyber relationship gains the potential to grow.
