An overview of what Conservapedia is about.

In short, the Conservapedia is an English-Language Wiki-based encyclopedia, written from an Americentric, conservative point of view. It was first started in 2006 by Andy Schlafly, because he felt that Wikipedia had a liberal, anti-christian and anti-American bias.

Schlafly was a teacher of social studies. He had the idea for starting Conservapedia when he received some work from a student, where the student had used Common Era Dating (CE) rather than the traditional Anno Domini dating (AD). Conservapedia now boasts in excess of 26,300 pages.

There is also places for debates on the site. Topics debated include Religion, Politics and History. The editors also maintain a page called ‘Examples of Bias in Wikipedia’. At one point, this was the most viewed page on the site.

On the front page, there are features and links to other sites and/or blogs that the editors feel are linked to conservatism.

There are Conservapedia Commandments that act as the rules for those wishing to submit an article to the site. These deal with bias and accuracy. So even though it is more christian than other sites, the information contained must still be as accurate as possible.
