This article gives a brief description on how to operate the website – blekingetrafiken.se. It is useful for new visitors to Blekinge region, routine commuters, and travelers. The main purpose of this article is to provide commuters with real-time information on bus frequency in the Blekinge region of Sweden.

Blekingetrafiken.se is a Blekinge region bus traffic website service that provides fast and accurate information on the frequency of bus service available in every bus stop of the Blekinge County in Sweden. This website provides only information to its commuters; it does not provide any on-line payment option in obtaining tickets. In order to use this website, you need to know what services this website provides. Next, you need to understand the scope of its service, be able to query, get immediate real-time response from the website, and understand the information and options provided by the website.

The website provides schedules, time tables, maps, special travel offers and holiday plans, regular city bus service, inter-state bus service, airport bus shuttle service, vehicle service for local travelling, commuter welfare, ticket prices, and refunds for buses, trains, and boats.

The website constitutes five major web pages:

The following is the screen-shot for Home page:

Basically, the entire website is in Swedish language. For commuter facility the website provided a link at the right corner of the Home page that will translate the website automatically to English by using Google translator service. Though the site provided better help options at every necessary point, there are still some unresolved problems associated with the translation of the language from Swedish to English by Google translator. Therefore, I provide basic information on the functionality and usage of those web pages that would be useful for the commuters.

Using Quick search (Snabbsökning) in Trip plan (Reseplaneraren)

The quick search provides the basic travel search. Before using quick search option, you need to be sure in mentioning specific geographic location names (within the Blekinge County).

To use the quick search, follow these steps:

Enter in the From field, the specific starting point location name
Enter in the To field, the specific destination name
Enter Date (YY|MM|DD)
Enter Time in 24-hour format (HH|MM)
Select either Destination or Arrival
Click on Search button to commence the search

Using Advanced Travel search/Utökad sökning

The advanced option provides better service than the basic quick search option. Here, there is no need for the commuter to specify any specific location. On the contrary, he/she just has to select Area to travel within.

To use the advanced travel search, follow these steps:

Step 1: Starting point and destination

Select an Area to travel within
In ‘From’ field either type ‘Stop/Address/Point of Interest’ or click on ‘Index/Map’
If you select ‘Index’, then a pop-up window will be shown with an index of locations from which you have to select one.

If you select ‘Map’, then a pop-up window will be shown with a map. Just click on a stop (displayed as icon with letter ‘H’ on the map) and select either ‘From’ or ‘To’ from option list.

To view the picture of that selected stop, select ‘Picture of stop A’
To view the exact opposite stop (the other side of the road) of ‘stop A’,select ‘Picture of stop B’
Entering ‘Via’ (optional).

Step 2: Time and date

Select either ‘Departure/Arrival’
Specify time in 24-hour format (HH|MM)
Select Date, Month, and Year

Step 3: Means of Transport

Select the means of transport in which you prefer to travel.
Click on search to obtain the itinerary and fare.
