Everywhere we go, we find friends. But, there are always the two types- the real one and the fake. Here in Triond, there is no such difference.

A year ago, a good friend of mine- a nice fellow signed up here in Triond to publish his stories. He also wanted to meet people (specifically girls) with the same interest as his. He had scanned several interesting Triond users but made no attempt to add them as friends.
He told me the word ‘friend’ has a deeper meaning for him. It is not something you can achieved by simply clicking the add button. A friend is someone you know, someone you talk to and someone you trust.
Kind of creepy, huh? Not really, because he is talking about real friends in the real world.
Friends In Triond
I didn’t say that there are no true friends in Triond. A lot of users here have their loyal friends who support their articles by leaving comments. My friend had only been unfortunate in making friends. What he found were spammers and a couple of deceitful people.
You are not probably new to the following. These are some dirty works of a spammer/ fake friends. I hope you will agree with me.
- Sends a link of his work for you to check out.
- Adds you as a friend but doesn’t pay a visit to any of your content.
- You comment on his articles but he doesn’t return the favor.
- Comments on your work but leaves his article link behind.
- Tells you that he admires your work but has no time to comment on your content or even to click the ‘like’ button.
Let’s face it. We came here in Triond for two reasons- to write and to earn. Here, ‘friends’ are expected to give us a lift. But, Internet friends or not, they should not be taken for granted.
I had read a comment of a Triond user about checking on a friend’s work. He clearly stated that, if he finds the article interesting, he will check on it. If not, he will let it pass.
Sure, the content of the article counts. But, what if this friend of that Triond user had been visiting all his works with the coolest comments? Still no favor?
As writers in Triond, we are all the same. Experts or rookies, hot users or not, we are all writers living our dream and earning money.
If you are a newbie or a suspected scheming **** and you want yourself to be called a friend, so be it. Otherwise, do not bother to add any of us.

As a writer, I can ask for no better a friend than honesty. I don’t personally subscribe to the notion that leaving positive comments in the interest of friendship alone is a favor to any writer. Neither is returning such a ‘favor’. A real friend is one who will tell you when there’s a booger hanging from your nose. ;^D

As a writer, my primary goal at Triond is to develop as a writer. Earnings at Triond are negligible, and trading kind words with a handful of friends isn’t going to change that a great deal.
I develop friendships based on honesty as well as a love for writing. I don’t subscribe to the notion that providing positive comments purely in the interest of gaining friends and being reciprocated does anyone any favors. It doesn’t make anyone rich, either, and can only inhibit a writer’s ability and desire to improve.
A real friend is one who will tell you when there’s a booger hanging from your nose. ;^D

Thank you for sharing your thoughts BullwinkleMuse. A lot of my friends complain about this. I guess someone should say something about it.

I agree with you but there are times that when they just view and read but didn’t comment and I guess to read your content is the best thing to do.
