The Internet is the single most valuable tool to save people more money on their household communication and entertainment expenses. The Internet makes it possible to virtually eliminate your home telephone bill, cable or television bill and deliver the most up to date news and entertainment that we would normally spend our cold, hard cash on so to enjoy ourselves.

Since the recent economic woes in the United States doesn’t seem to be getting any better any time soon, it has become necessary to cut costs and balance our personal spending budgets in anyway possible. Home telephone service calling plans have dropped greatly in price, the typical basis AT&T landline plan starts at about $30.00 once all of the fees and taxes have been figured in. Even $30 dollars is $360 dollars per year with a no bells and whistle calling plan and that is still too much when compared to the savings that consumers experience using the MagicJack Internet phone service.

At a starting cost of $48 dollars (including the MagicJack USB gadget and S/H charges) and $19.95 per year annually thereafter, now that is a great deal. I own a MagicJack and it delivers crystal clear reception and I can call anywhere within the US and Canada for only $1.60 per month without ever receiving another month telephone bill.

    Very nice and good points.

But I’d be a bit careful about BitTorrent as peer to peer filesharing can be seen to be illegal. You could get into trouble and also get viruses from there if you are not careful.

Connecting your pc to your tv sounds interesting. I will have to have a look-see.

  5. Super Mike Says:

One point for Rana is that I use Ubuntu Linux, which uses BitTorrent for distributing software upgrades (when they go to a next major release of the OS, I mean). It’s not illegal and is one of the most efficient ways of distributing this software legally. He’s right, however, in that P2P filesharing from less reputable sources can be a way to receive viruses, download stuff illegally, and get yourself into big trouble.

As for other advice, here’s some other things to think about.

    * eBay. I know everyone has heard about it, but it still is a great way to save money. And for some, to make money.

    * Brring.com. Take any phone number, run it through Brring, and they will give you another phone number to use. When people call this number, they hear a short ad and then get sent to this other number. In return, you make a little bit of money on each call. Not bad.

    * Free voicemail services. There are a handful of free voicemail services out there that can save you a lot of money if you’re a startup company, or need some other kind of arrangement.
