I compare three different services to make your digital album. Some require knowledge but offer more control, others require little knowledge but are somewhat limited. Decide for yourself after learning the pros and cons of each.
Making a good album with all your photos online used to be very hard and time consuming. You had to manually insert all the photos you wanted one by one in Dreamweaver or Frontpage and hope they would just fit together good enough to be presentable.
Now with modern tools you do not need to endure such pain. With a few clicks you can an album with any size you want, with any number of photos you want and with any security layer you want.
Again you will have to decide between complicity and ease of use and control.
Let’s start with Flickr. This is a free service and the most used in the world. Here you can upload your photos and Flickr will make a unique URL just for it.
Flickr will give you a lot of exposure for your images but you are limited to their rules such as the disk space and business models.
You can however become a Pro member and pay 2$ per month to have more features.
With Google Web Albums it’s a little worse. They lack the clear design and most of the features Flickr has such as a wide audience and more space.
If I were you I would go for own website for web albums. You will need to get some hosting, it can be free hosting but with free FTP and then you need to download Google Picasa.
With Google Picasa you can export all the photos you want as HTML and then just upload them with the FTP.
The process will then be 100% automatic and the site is made by Google Picassa.
There are many more services out there but I did not try them all one by one, and neither should you.
Just stick to these 3 main services that you will be well served.
