You can not make your own domain name unless you buy one.
There are many people trying to find ways to make their own websites. For free. Without any downloads. If you are one of those people, you found the right article! I will tell you step by step how to make your own website with Wix, a pretty well-known website maker. Have fun!
Part 1 – Getting Started.
First, I will teach you how to use Wix. Just Google it, or enter http://www.wix.com/ in the address bar. It should come up with a page like this:

Click on the Login/Sign Up button on the top right corner of the page. It looks like this:

Once you’ve done that, just follow the steps, fill in the spots etc. until you’re registered. When you log in, a page like this should come up. Click Create to start making a site.

Just like it says on Wix, choose a design you want to get started. You will be able to choose from many layouts, but I usually start from scratch, so I chose Blank.
**NOTE** You must have your Pop-Up Blocker turned off, or at least make it so that pop-ups from Wix will be allowed. The website creator will pop up in another window.
Part 2 – Making the Website.
Step 1 – Getting to know the tools.
Now that you’ve gotten the designer open, you can start making the website. From here on, I will explain the different tools and buttons that you can use and how to use them.
Use this tab to choose a background, page frame, page center, make areas, mini pages, menus and buttons.
Use this tab to insert pics, music, videos and files.
Use this tab to insert shapes, clip art, lines, video FX, animations and icons.
Use this tab to insert paragraphs, titles and notes.
Use this tab to insert galleries for photos that you upload. There are a few different kinds of galleries.
Use this tab to insert music players, RSS feeds, comments, contact form, Google maps, PayPal and eCommerce buttons.
You can view all the options on each tab by hovering your mouse over the icon. When you upload pictures, you will have the option to upload them from your computer or from a URL. Videos can only be embedded from YouTube. To play music that you upload, you must have a player.
Step 2 – Building the site.
When you choose an icon on a tab, a window in the bottom right corner of the page will pop up, showing you a few different kinds of the thing you chose. You can click on one of them and it will appear in the center of your page.
You can add more pages to your website by clicking the “Add Page” button on the top right corner. You can also change the name of a page by clicking “Manage”, then on the name of the page you want to change on the window that pops up.
To get to another one of the pages that you made, you must have either a button to get there or a menu. Go to Page Parts and select one of them. If you select a menu, a list of all the pages you made will come up. If you select a button, then you will have to click on it, select Behaviors and make it go to the page that you want it to. You can’t get to a page you made by clicking on a button or a menu while you’re editing, but when you publish your site, you will be able to click them.
You can save your site at any time, but it won’t get published until you click publish. The save and publish buttons are at the top of the page, along with settings and preview. There are also a few icons at the top to help you cut, paste, copy etc.
Step 3 – Publishing.
When you feel you are ready to let your site be viewed by the world, click Publish. A window will come up asking you to name your site. Click Next when you are done.
You will have the options to publish your site to Wix.com, email the link to a friend, or embed it in another website. Click Publish to Wix.com first. You will always be able to view these things again. You will be asked to select Best Fit or True Size. I would suggest Best Fit because there are people with bigger and smaller computer screens out there. Now click next to view your website URL.
This is one of the things that you will not be able to change. Below that will be places to enter the Title (the name that appears on the tabs of an internet browser), tags and a description of the site. You will also be able to change the settings here. When you are finished, click Publish, and there you go! You have just published your own website!
If you would like to email the link to your friends, or embed it in another website, just click Publish at the top again. Or, if you still have the window open that popped up after you published it, you can just click Publish to another destination. You will not be able to remove the Wix ads because you are using the free version of Wix.
